European Junior Cup
The European Junior Cup was a motorcycling series held as a support series for the European rounds of the Superbike World Championship, hence the title. It was open to riders aged between 14–19; for 2015 the upper limit was increased to 21 for males and 23 for females, who also competed for a Women's European Cup; for 2016 the age limit for female riders was 24. The first season was run with Kawasaki Ninja 250R bikes, before they switched to KTM 690 Duke for 2012 and to Honda CBR500R from 2013 to 2014; the 2015 and 2016 bike was the Honda CBR650F. Avalon Biddle
Avalon Biddle (born 21 September 1992, North Shore, Auckland) is a New Zealand motorcycle racer. Background Biddle's parents are Keith and Beverley Biddle. Her father was a speedway bike racer and her uncle Bruce Biddle a Commonwealth Games and Olympic cyclist who been placed third in the 1972 Munich Games road race. She attended Pinehurst School, Albany, Auckland where she did well academically and Massey University where she studied for a Sports Science degree. In February 2017, she was awarded the AIMES Judges special award of $15,000 in recognition of her achievements in motor-cycle racing. The 2015 European Junior Cup was the fifth season of the European Junior Cup. It was contested over eight rounds, starting on 12 April at Motorland Aragón and ending on 4 October at Magny Cours. Starting in 2015 there was a "Women's European Cup" for female riders aged between 14 and 23 years. The upper age limit was also increased to 21 for males. With five victories, Spanish rider Javier Orellana claimed the championship title with a round to spare, ultimately finishing fifty-six points clear of his next closest competitor, Paolo Grassia of Italy. Grassia prevailed in a three-rider contest for the runner-up position at the final round at Magny-Cours; his fifth-place finish saw him take the position by three points from France's Guillaume Raymond. The 2014 European Junior Cup was the fourth season of the European Junior Cup. It was contested over eight rounds, starting on 13 April at Motorland Aragón and ending on 5 October at Magny Cours. Spanish rider Augusto Fernández won the championship, taking four wins during the season, as well as finishing every race in the top six placings. Fernández clinched the championship with a third-place finish in the final race, taking him out of reach of compatriot Javier Orellana, who won the race – his second of the season, after Donington Park – by a tally of fifteen points. Angelo Licciardi completed the top three placings, just a point ahead of another Spanish rider, Illán Fernández.
