European Girls' Team Championship
The European Girls' Team Championship is a European amateur team golf championship for women up to 18 organised by the European Golf Association. The inaugural event was held in 1991. It was played in odd-numbered years from 1991 to 1999 and has been played annually since 1999. Since the European Lady Junior's Team Championship for women under 22, was discontinued in 2006, due to the trend of players reaching elite level at an earlier age, the European Girls' Team Championship has been regarded as the most important junior team event in Europe outside the British Isles. Many female European players on the world's leading professional golf tours have played in the event during their early careers. Amateurs and their pursuits are also described as popular, informal, autodidacticism, self-taught, user-generated, do it yourself, DIY, and hobbyist. Matilda Castren
Matilda Maria Castren (born 18 January 1995) is a Finnish professional golfer playing on the LPGA Tour. In 2021 she won the LPGA Mediheal Championship to become the first player from Finland to win on the LPGA Tour. Career Castren won the 2011 Doral Publix Junior Classic in the U.S. and the 2013 Skandia Junior Open in Sweden, and was runner-up at the 2013 Portuguese Ladies Amateur. She represented Finland at the 2011, 2012 and 2013 European Girls' Team Championship, the 2014, 2015 and 2016 European Ladies' Team Championship, and at the 2014 and 2016 Espirito Santo Trophy. She was also on the winning Vagliano Trophy team in 2017. Linköping Golf Club
Linköping Golf Club is a golf club located 3 km west of central Linköping in Östergötland County, Sweden. It has hosted the Scandinavian Enterprise Open on the European Tour. History The club was admitted to the Swedish Golf Federation in 1948 and the course was inaugurated by Prince Bertil, Duke of Halland in 1949, after construction of the first 9 holes had started in 1945. The full 18 hole course, designed by Rafael Sundblom and Douglas Brasier, was completed in 1956. Peter Fjällman and Pierre Fulke has since modernized elements of the course. Amongst the most successful players to come out of the club's youth system are Gisela Linnér, Claes Jöhncke and Krister Kinell. Forsgården Golf Club
Forsgården Golf Club is a golf club located in Kungsbacka 25 km south of Gothenburg in Sweden. It hosted the Scandinavian Masters in 1993 and 1996. History Marianne Persson initiated the formation of the club in 1982 and it was admitted to the Swedish Golf Federation in 1986. The first 18 holes designed by Sune Linde were completed in 1989 and the 27 hole course in 1998. The club hosted the Scandinavian Masters twice in the 1990s, and both tournaments ended with playoffs. In 1993 Peter Baker won with par on second extra hole over Anders Forsbrand, after they both finished on 282 (–10), two strokes ahead of Nick Faldo in solo third. The Swedish Golf Federation ( sv, Svenska Golfförbundet, SGF) is the governing body for the sport of golf in Sweden, founded in 1904. The federation is responsible for administering the Rules of Golf, as laid down by The R&A, at the national level. It organizes tournaments, manages the national teams, and promotes the game. As of 2022, the federation organized 448 golf clubs and 505,577 individual members with 536 203 memberships, 74.4% male and 25.6% female. This makes it the third largest sports federation in Sweden in terms of active members, behind association football and athletics in first and second and place. Junior Solheim Cup
The Junior Solheim Cup is a version of the Solheim Cup for girls aged 12 to 18. It was inaugurated in 2002. It is currently officially called the PING Junior Solheim Cup. The Junior Solheim Cup follows a similar format to The Solheim Cup and features the top 12 U.S. amateur girls—defined as girls participating in American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) events—versus their European counterparts. College/university golfers are ineligible to participate in the event, even if they meet the age cutoff. The event is held over two days, with six fourball and six foursomes matches on the first day, and twelve singles matches on the second day. Jessica Regina Korda ( cs, Jessica Kordová) (born February 27, 1993) is an Czech-American professional golfer who plays on the LPGA Tour. Jodi Ewart Shadoff
Jodi Ewart Shadoff (born 7 January 1988) is an English professional golfer who plays on the LPGA Tour and on the Ladies European Tour. Early life Ewart was born at Northallerton in North Yorkshire. Her family now lives in Middleham and is involved in horse racing; her father is a former jockey and horse trainer. As a child, she played football before her grandfather introduced her to golf and to her first coach. She attended the University of New Mexico, graduating with a degree in psychology in 2010.
