Eurometaal
Eurometaal is one of the leading ammunition producing companies of the Netherlands. Its headquarters are in Zaandam. History Originally, Eurometaal is an industrial military complex that set up camp in Zaandam around 1900, and adopted the name Eurometaal in 1973. Eurometaal has developed weaponry for the Royal Netherlands Army from NR20 C1 hand grenades to tanks. In the nineties, an employee of the hand grenade factory in Liebenau revealed that their grenades were used in the Kurdish-Turkish conflict, which created a PR nightmare and led to the shutdown of the factory in Germany in 1993. The arms created in Germany had transited through the Netherlands before being delivered to Turkey, amid a German ban on arm trades with Turkey. Eurometaal was a producer M864 and M483A1 projectiles. Zaandam () is a city in the Provinces of the Netherlands, province of North Holland, Netherlands. The Royal Netherlands Army ( nl, Koninklijke Landmacht) is the land branch of the Netherlands Armed Forces. M864
The M864 is an American made 155 mm calibre, 155 mm artillery shell. It carries a dual-purpose Improved Conventional Munition, ICM submunition warhead and incorporates base bleed technology to increase its range. The projectile is capable of delivering 24 M46 and 48 M42 dual-purpose anti-materiel/anti-personnel sub-munitions at ranges out to 29 kilometers. Base bleed technology was developed to reduce the amount of base drag on a projectile, thereby increasing the achieved range. The drag is reduced by a gas generator located on the base of the projectile. Once ignited, the gas generator bleeds hot gas into the projectiles wake which causes the flow of air at the base to be less turbulent. The decrease in turbulence, reduces base drag, which typically accounts for 50 percent of total drag. The amount of thrust produced by the base burner unit is negligible and does not serve the same function as the rocket motor on a rocket-assisted projectile (RAP). The Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation ( tr, Makina ve Kimya Endüstrisi or MKE for short), established in 1950, is a reorganization of government-controlled group of factories in Turkey that supplied the Turkish Armed Forces with military products.
