Eureka Seven
''Eureka Seven'', known in Japan as , is a 2005 Japanese anime series created by Bones. The series was directed by Tomoki Kyoda, with series composition by Dai Satō, character designs by Kenichi Yoshida and music by Naoki Satō. ''Eureka Seven'' tells the story of Renton Thurston and the outlaw group Gekkostate, his relationship with the enigmatic mecha pilot Eureka, and the mystery of the Coralians. The fifty-episode series aired in Japan on MBS between April 2005 and April 2006. It was licensed by Funimation in North America, Madman Entertainment in Australia and New Zealand and by Anime Limited in the United Kingdom for English home video releases. The series spawned six manga adaptations, a light novel, three video games and a feature-length anime film which was released in Japan in April 2009. Renton Thurston
The ''Eureka Seven'' anime and manga series features an extensive cast of characters created by Bones. The central protagonist of the series is Renton Thurston, a young boy who joins the renegade group Gekkostate to fight against the U.F. Force, led by Dewey Novak. In naming the characters, writer Dai Sato drew inspiration from club bands and the music culture of his generation. He said, "The youngest generation is represented by references to dance music, techno, and house. Hip hop represents the next generation, and rock represents the oldest generation.” Although the show is primarily targeted towards the kid demographic, he hoped to draw in some viewers who might have hung out at clubs at night. Masahiko Minami
is a Japanese anime producer and president of Bones. Career A graduate of the Osaka University of Arts's department of arts, Minami began his career with noted anime studio Sunrise as one of its producers. Later, in 1998, he co-founded Bones together with animators Hiroshi Osaka and Toshihiro Kawamoto. He was classmates in university with Gainax co-founder Hiroyuki Yamaga and manga artist Kazuhiko Shimamoto.
