Eurasia International Film Festival is an international film festival held in Kazakhstan. With the exception of the fifth, held in Astana, all the editions were held in Almaty Almaty (; kk, Алматы; ), formerly known as Alma-Ata ( kk, Алма-Ата), is the largest city in Kazakhstan, with a population of about 2 million. Małgorzata Szumowska (; born 26 February 1973) is a Poles, Polish film director, screenwriter and producer, born in Kraków. Her 2013 film ''In the Name Of (film), In the Name Of'' received the Teddy Award for Best Feature at the 63rd Berlin International Film Festival, and received the Grand Prix at the 32nd annual Istanbul Film Festival. Özcan Alper
Özcan Alper (born 1975) is a Turkish film director and screenwriter of Hemshin peoples, Hemshin descent. He studied at Trabzon Lisesi. In 1992, he moved to Istanbul to study at Istanbul University Engineering Faculty in the Physics Department and then moved to Istanbul University Literature Faculty where he studied History of Sciences and graduated in 2003. Since 1996, he was interested in films and took part in workshops organized by Mezopotamya Culture Center, the Nâzım Culture House (now renamed Nâzım Hikmet Culture Center). Starting 2000 started assisting in films under the supervision of film director Yeşim Ustaoğlu. After being assistant director in the short ''Toprak'', he filmed ''Momi'' as his first short film as main director. The film was selected as the Kazakhstani entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 83rd Academy Awards, but it didn't make the final shortlist. Plot A man (Andrey Merzlikin) traveling with his wife (Almagul Rulas) and son (Ilyas Sadyrov) to town takes a short cut across the steppes. The car breaks down in the middle of nowhere and in the morning he finds that his wife and son are gone. While looking for them he discovers a strange shack where an older man and his daughter live. This strange pair seem to have plans for him, but it is unclear what those plans might entail. As he discovers there is no escape from this place, he also gets closer to solving the mystery of what happened to his family, and who this strange man and woman really are. Andrey Ilyich Merzlikin (russian: Андре́й Ильи́ч Мерзли́кин; born 24 March 1973) is a Russian film and theater actor. Early life Andrey Merzlikin was born in Kaliningrad, Moscow Oblast. In the first education – radio engineer of space engineering, then earned a degree in economics. In parallel, he graduated from the acting department Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography (workshop Y. Kindinova). While studying at the institute, he starred in the short film "How I Spent My Summer" (dir. N. Pogonicheva) and received the prize for best actor at the film festival VGIK. Pelin Esmer (born 1972, Istanbul) is a Turkish screenwriter and director. Career Pelin Esmer studied anthropology at the social sciences department of Boğaziçi University in Istanbul. She made her first short documentary, ''Koleksiyoncu'' (The Collector) about her uncle Mithat Esmer, who is also the main character of her first fiction feature, ''10 to 11'' (2009). Her 2005 work, ''Oyun'', was filmed in Arslanköy and documents the efforts of a group of peasant women who produce a play based on their lives.
