Eulenbis
Eulenbis is a municipality (German: ''Ortsgemeinde'') in the district of Kaiserslautern, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Geography Eulenbis lies around 13 kilometers northwest of Kaiserslautern. The Eulenkopf to the west has a height of 422 meters, and Eulenbis is the highest part of the greater Weilerbach community. Additionally, the hamlets of Mückenmühle and Untere Pfeifermühle belong to Eulenbis. History The first documented mention of the town as "''Ulengebeiß"'' dates back to the year 1380. Politics Town Council The Eulenbis town council consists of eight members who were last elected on May 26, 2019. Previously made up of 12 members, the council is headed up by a volunteer mayor. Mayor The mayor of Eulenbis is Kathleen Hielscher. She was selected by direct election on May 26, 2019 and received 56.97 % of ballots cast. Kaiserslautern (district)
Kaiserslautern is a district (''Kreis'') in the south of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Neighboring districts are (from west clockwise) Kusel, Saarpfalz-Kreis, Donnersbergkreis, Bad Dürkheim and Südwestpfalz. The city of Kaiserslautern is almost fully enclosed by, but not belonging to the district. History The district of Kaiserslautern was established in 1939. Minor changes of the borders occurred in 1969 and 1972. Geography The district includes parts of the Palatinate Forest (''Pfälzer Wald'') in the east and the North Palatine Hills (''Nordpfälzer Bergland'') in the west, as well as the lowlands between them. Partnerships Since 1962 the district has had a partnership with Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. A Verbandsgemeinde (; plural Verbandsgemeinden) is a low-level administrative division, administrative unit in the Germany, German States of Germany, federal states of Rhineland-Palatinate and Saxony-Anhalt. Free Voters
Free Voters (german: Freie Wähler, FW or FWG) in Germany may belong to an association of people which participates in an election without having the status of a registered political party. Usually it involves a locally organized group of voters in the form of a registered association (eV). In most cases, Free Voters campaign only at the local-government level, standing for city councils and for mayoralties. Free Voters tend to achieve their most successful electoral results in rural areas of southern Germany, appealing most to conservative voters who prefer local decisions to party politics. Free Voter groups are active in all German states. Unlike in the other German states, the Free Voters of Bavaria have also contested state elections since 1998. A Standesamt (German, plural "Standesämter") is a German civil registration office, which is responsible for recording births, marriages, and deaths. Soon after the German Empire was created in 1871 from the previous collection of German states (kingdoms, duchies, etc.), a universal system of register offices was established, taking effect on January 1, 1876. The system had previously been introduced in Prussia on October 1, 1874, and had been in use since the beginning of the 19th century in areas where the French Civil Code applied. Usually, the office was located in the local city or town hall. Today, those register offices (Standesämter) are still part of the administration of every German municipality (in small communities, they are often incorporated with other offices of the administration). The Palatinate (german: Pfalz; Palatine German: ''Palz'') is a region of Germany. Bundesautobahn 6
, also known as Via Carolina (between Nuremberg and the Czech border continuing to Prague - by czech motorway D5) is a 477 km (296.4 mi) long German autobahn. It starts at the French border near Saarbrücken in the west and ends at the Czech border near Waidhaus in the east. The first plans for the A 6 were laid out in 1935; construction on several parts began in 1938. In 1940, construction near Mannheim was stopped when the bridge across the Rhine collapsed, killing many workers. A new bridge, the Theodor Heuss Bridge (Frankenthal), was opened in 1953. Other parts of the A 6 were completed in 1941. A part near Kaiserslautern was used as an airstrip by the Luftwaffe during World War II.
