Eugenio Mimica Barassi
Eugenio Mimica Barassi (4 November 1949 – 27 March 2021) was a Chilean writer, born in Santiago. He made his literary debut in 1977, with the short story collection ''Comarca fueguina''. In 1979 he published his next book, the short story collection ''Los cuatro dueños'' (Santiago Municipal Literature Award). Further books are ''Travesía sobre la cordillera Darwin'', ''Un adiós al descontento'', ''Enclave para dislocados'', and ''Tierra del fuego, en días de viento ausente''. Santiago
Santiago (, ; ), also known as Santiago de Chile, is the capital and largest city of Chile as well as one of the largest cities in the Americas. Santiago Municipal Literature Award
The Santiago Municipal Literature Award ( es, Premio Municipal de Literatura de Santiago) is one of the oldest and most important literary awards in Chile Created in 1934 by the municipality of Santiago, its first edition awarded the categories of novel, poetry and theater (later to be renamed as dramaturgy). Two categories were added soon after – essay, in 1941, and short story, in 1954 – and four other more recently, in 2013 – children's and young adult literature, referential (memoirs, chronicles, diaries, letters, biographies, and also compilations and anthologies), journalistic research and editing. In 2014 it was decided to start awarding children's and young adult literature separately, making it a total of ten categories. Academia Chilena De La Lengua
The Academia Chilena de la Lengua (Spanish for ''Chilean Language Academy'') is an association of academics and experts on the use of the Spanish language in Chile. It is a member of the Association of Academies of the Spanish Language and is a part of the Instituto de Chile. History and purpose The academy was founded in Santiago de Chile on June 5, 1885. It started out with 18 members designated by the Royal Spanish Academy. Its stated aims, according to its bylaws, are: to ensure the purity and splendor of the Spanish language, to contribute to the work of the Royal Spanish Academy and the Association of Academies of the Spanish Language, and to collaborate with other institutions on matters related to the language and its literature, particularly Chilean literature.
