Eugenia Pyriformis
''Eugenia pyriformis'' is a plant of the family Myrtaceae found primarily in Brazil. It reaches 20 to 45 feet (6 to 13 meters) in height and 1 to 1.5 feet (30-50 centimeters) in trunk diameter. It is a native species of Brazil, occurring primarily in the states of Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and São Paulo. Cultivation It may grow between elevations of 1000 to 5000 feet (300 to 1500 meters). It requires a well drained, preferably slightly acid soil. Fruit ''Eugenia pyriformis'' flowers between the months of August and December, and produces fruit between September and January. The yellow fruit of the plant is called ''uvalha'' and is edible. Some environmentalists have recommended use of the plant for projects of reforestation Reforestation (occasionally, reafforestation) is the natural or intentional restocking of existing forests and woodlands (forestation) that have been depleted, usually through deforestation, but also after clearcutting. Jacques Cambessèdes
Jacques Cambessèdes (26 August 1799 – 19 October 1863) was a French botanist born in Montpellier. In March – June 1825, prompted by suggestions of Jaques Étienne Gay and Alexander von Humboldt, Cambessèdes performed investigations involving flora of the Balearic Islands. From this expedition he published the informal ''Excursions dans les îles Baléares'' (1826) and the first floristic inventory of the Balearics, ''Enumeratio plantarum quas in insulis Balearibus collegit'' (1827). In 1851, he married the botanical illustrator Marie Eulalie Ledoux, widow of Alire Raffeneau Delile, known as Mme. Eulalie Delile. A. Lombard-Dumas. La Botanique dans le Gard de Pouzolz et son Oeuvre. in Bulletin. Société d'étude des sciences naturelles de Nîmes. volume 27. pages 111-118. 189 He has several botanical species named after him, including ''Paeonia cambessedesii'', a peony native to Majorca Mallorca, or Majorca, is the largest island in the Balearic Islands ...

Myrtaceae
Myrtaceae, the myrtle family, is a family of dicotyledonous plants placed within the order Myrtales. Myrtle, pōhutukawa, bay rum tree, clove, guava, acca (feijoa), allspice, and eucalyptus are some notable members of this group. All species are woody, contain essential oils, and have flower parts in multiples of four or five. The leaves are evergreen, alternate to mostly opposite, simple, and usually entire (i.e., without a toothed margin). The flowers have a base number of five petals, though in several genera, the petals are minute or absent. The stamens are usually very conspicuous, brightly coloured, and numerous. Evolutionary history Scientists hypothesize that the family Myrtaceae arose between 60 and 56 million years ago (Mya) during the Paleocene era. Pollen fossils have been sourced to the ancient supercontinent Gondwana. The breakup of Gondwana during the Cretaceous period (145 to 66 Mya) geographically isolated disjunct taxa and allowed for rapid speciation; i ...

Reforestation
Reforestation (occasionally, reafforestation) is the natural or intentional restocking of existing forests and woodlands (forestation) that have been depleted, usually through deforestation, but also after clearcutting. Management A debated issue in managed reforestation is whether or not the succeeding forest will have the same biodiversity as the original forest. If the forest is replaced with only one species of tree and all other vegetation is prevented from growing back, a monoculture forest similar to agricultural crops would be the result. However, most reforestation involves the planting of different selections of seedlings taken from the area, often of multiple species. Another important factor is the natural regeneration of a wide variety of plant and animal species that can occur on a clear cut. In some areas the suppression of forest fires for hundreds of years has resulted in large single aged and single species forest stands. The logging of small clear cuts an ...

Trees Of Brazil
In botany, a tree is a perennial plant with an elongated stem, or trunk, usually supporting branches and leaves. In some usages, the definition of a tree may be narrower, including only woody plants with secondary growth, plants that are usable as lumber or plants above a specified height. In wider definitions, the taller palms, tree ferns, bananas, and bamboos are also trees. Trees are not a taxonomic group but include a variety of plant species that have independently evolved a trunk and branches as a way to tower above other plants to compete for sunlight. The majority of tree species are angiosperms or hardwoods; of the rest, many are gymnosperms or softwoods. Trees tend to be long-lived, some reaching several thousand years old. Trees have been in existence for 370 million years. It is estimated that there are some three trillion mature trees in the world. A tree typically has many secondary branches supported clear of the ground by the trunk. This trunk typically co ...

It has the most known species of plant Plants are predominantly photosynthetic eukaryotes of the kingdom Plantae. Eugenia
''Eugenia'' is a genus of flowering plants in the myrtle family Myrtaceae. It has a worldwide, although highly uneven, distribution in tropical and subtropical regions. The bulk of the approximately 1,100 species occur in the New World tropics, especially in the northern Andes, the Caribbean, and the Atlantic Forest (coastal forests) of eastern Brazil. Other centers of diversity include New Caledonia and Madagascar. Many of the species that occur in the Old World have received a new classification into the genus ''Syzygium''. All species are woody evergreen trees and shrubs. Several are grown as ornamental plants for their attractive glossy foliage, and a few produce edible fruit that are eaten fresh or used in jams and jellies. Taxonomy The genus was named in honor of Prince Eugene of Savoy. Many species new to science have been and are in the process of being described from these regions. For example, 37 new species of ''Eugenia'' have been described from Mesoamerica in the p ...
