Eugene Rittich
Eugene Rittich (15 August 1928 – June 18, 2006) was a Canadian musician who taught horn, chamber music, conducting and ensemble master classes and seminars for over 30 years in Canada, the United States, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. In addition to his seminars, Rittich's services as advisor, adjudicator and jury member for Arts Councils, Universities, Music Festivals, and Competitions throughout Canada and the U.S. had helped him to guide many young players into distinguished professional careers around the world. Eugene Rittich's long association with the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra, the National Youth Orchestra and the Faculty of Music at the University of Toronto was honored twice by the International Horn Society in awarding him their Punto Award ''"in recognition of distinguished contributions and service to the art of horn playing".'' Toronto Symphony Orchestra
The Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO) is a Canadian orchestra based in Toronto, Ontario. Founded in 1906, the TSO gave regular concerts at Massey Hall until 1982, and since then has performed at Roy Thomson Hall. The TSO also manages the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra (TSYO). The TSO's most recent music director was Peter Oundjian, from 2004 to 2018. Sir Andrew Davis, conductor laureate of the TSO, has most recently served as the orchestra's interim artistic director. International Horn Society
The International Horn Society (IHS) is an international organization dedicated to players of the horn founded in June 1970 with a goal to promote horn playing, education and fellowship. A community of over 3500 members from 55 countries around the globe, the society aims to bring together horn players, educators, and enthusiasts from around the world to share knowledge and experience. The society's activities include holding workshops, lectures, and seminars that are open to the public, publishing a journal and newsletters that feature materials related to the horn. National Youth Orchestra Of Canada
The National Youth Orchestra of Canada (NYO Canada, or NYOC, french: Orchestre national des jeunes du Canada) is a Canadian youth orchestra headquartered in Toronto. The orchestra has given concert tours in every major Canadian city as well as trips to other countries, including the United States, Japan, China and countries in Europe. The French horn (since the 1930s known simply as the horn in professional music circles) is a brass instrument made of tubing wrapped into a coil with a flared bell. The double horn in F/B (technically a variety of German horn) is the horn most often used by players in professional orchestras and bands, although the descant and triple horn have become increasingly popular. The Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra (TSYO) is a high-level orchestral training programme for musicians aged 22 and under, based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
