EuAuto Technology Limited was a company in Hong Kong that developed the GTA MyCar, MyCar electric automobile. The company "specializes in design, develop, manufacture and sales of environmentally friendly vehicles for global markets." Sinling Chung was the company's chief executive. GTA MyCar
The GTA MyCar (styled MyCar) is an electric vehicle originally produced by EuAuto Technology Limited based in Hong Kong, and from 2010 by GreenTech Automotive when it acquired EuAuto. The company had its manufacturing facility in Dongguan, China. The MyCar is classified as a NEV in the United States due to its low top speed. Manufacturing ended in 2017 and the company folded in 2018. History The car was first conceived by Giorgetto Giugiaro of Italdesign in 2003. The propulsion system was engineered in co-operation with Hong Kong Polytechnic University. In 2010, GreenTech Automotive, Inc. bought EuAuto Technology, Ltd., and announced plans to manufacture and market vehicles in the United States. The first U.S. manufactured MyCar vehicles, which were also supposed be exported to Denmark, were supposed to come off the assembly line in Horn Lake, Mississippi, on 4 July 2011. GreenTech Automotive (GTA) was a U.S.-based automotive manufacturer dedicated to developing and producing 100% electric vehicles. It was a subsidiary of WM Industries Corp. History GTA was founded in 2009 by Charles Wang. In May 2010, GTA acquired Hong Kong based EuAuto Technology and its Mycar vehicle, and relocated the company's operations and manufacturing to the United States. GTA's first manufacturing facility was temporarily in Horn Lake, Mississippi. The company merged with VL Automotive in 2014, developing a traditionally powered version of the Fisker Karma, called the WM Destino. In September 2014, GTA completed construction on a new production facility in Tunica County, Mississippi. This was shut down in January 2017. The company declared bankruptcy in February 2018. Giorgetto Giugiaro
Giorgetto Giugiaro (; born 7 August 1938) is an Italian automotive designer. He has worked on supercars and popular everyday vehicles. He was born in Garessio, Cuneo, Piedmont. Giugiaro was named Car Designer of the Century in 1999 and inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame in 2002. In addition to cars, Giugiaro designed camera bodies for Nikon, ''Navigation promenade'' of Porto Santo Stefano, in 1983, the organ of the cathedral of Lausanne (composed of about 7000 pipes) in 2003, and developed a new pasta shape, "Marille". He also designed several watch models for Seiko, mainly racing chronographs, as well as office furniture for Okamura Corporation. Influence on design Giugiaro's earliest cars, like the Alfa Romeo 105/115 Series Coupés, often featured tastefully arched and curving shapes, such as the De Tomaso Mangusta, Iso Grifo, and Maserati Ghibli. Italdesign Giugiaro S.p.A. is a design and engineering company and brand based in Moncalieri, Italy, that traces its roots to the 1968 foundation of Studi Italiani Realizzazione Prototipi S.p.A. by Giorgetto Giugiaro and Aldo Mantovani. Best known for its automobile design work, Italdesign also offers product design, project management, styling, packaging, engineering, modeling, prototyping and testing services to manufacturers worldwide. The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) is a public research university located in Hung Hom, Hong Kong near Hung Hom station. The University is one of the eight government-funded degree-granting tertiary institutions in Hong Kong. Founded in 1937 as the first Government Trade School, it is the first institution to provide technical education in Hong Kong.
