Etim Inyang
Etim Okon Inyang (25 December 1931 – 26 September 2016) was a Nigerian Policeman and former Inspector General of Police. He was appointed in 1983 to succeed Sunday Adewusi and was succeeded by Muhammadu Gambo Jimeta in 1986. He died at the age of 84 in Lagos, Nigeria. Inyang was born in Enwang Mbo, Akwa Ibom, the son of Okon Inyang the traditional ruler at Enwang. He had his education at the Roman Catholic School, Uko-Akpan (1936 - 1937), Methodist School, Oron (1939 - 1940) and Oyubia Secondary School, Oron (1941 - 1945). Before he joined the police force, Inyang was a teacher between the years 1946 and 1949. The Inspector General of Police, abbreviated as IGP is the head of the Nigeria Police Force. He is the most senior officer in the police service. The pioneer IGP is Louis Edet and the current IGP is Usman Alkali Baba. Sunday Adewusi
Sunday Adedayo Adewusi (6 December 1936 – 26 January 2016) was a Nigerian policeman and former Inspector General of Police. He was appointed in 1981 to succeed Adamu Suleiman and was succeeded by Etim Inyang in 1983. He died at the age of 79 in 2016. He was born in Nassarawa state of Nigeria. Early life He started his education at Mada Station between 1944 and 1948, after which he proceeded to Baptist Day School, Jos where he stayed and completed his standard six between 1949 and 1950. He had his secondary education at Keffi from 1951 to 1956. Police Force He joined the Nigeria Police Force and had his police training at the Police College from 1957 to 1958 as a cadet sub-inspector. At the police college, he won the cane of honour. Muhammadu Gambo Jimeta (15 April 1937 - 21 January 2021) was a former Inspector General of the Nigeria Police Force. He was appointed in 1986 to succeed Etim Inyang and was succeeded by Aliyu Attah in 1990. He was later Coordinator of National Security to President of Nigeria Ibrahim Babangida. Early life He was born in Jimeta on 15 April 1937. Education Gambo as he was popularly called, attended Jimeta Elementary School (1947–49) and Yola Middle School (1950–55) for his early education. Thereafter, he went to Bauchi Provincial Secondary School (1956–58) and Government College Keffi (1958–59), before attending Nigeria Police College Kaduna (1959) and Police College Ikeja (1959). The Nigeria Police Force is the principal law enforcement and the lead security agency in Nigeria. Designated by the 1999 constitution as the national police of Nigeria with exclusive jurisdiction throughout the country, as at 2016 it has a staff strength of about 371,800.
