''Estudios San Miguel'' (San Miguel Studios) was an Argentina, Argentine film studio that was active in the 1940s and early 1950s. It flourished during the golden age of Cinema of Argentina, and at its peak was one of the major studios in Buenos Aires. Genres ranged from musical comedy to costume drama and gaucho thriller. Films included ''La guerra gaucha'' (''The Gaucho War'' 1942), co-produced with ''Artistas Argentinos Asociados'', and the comedy ''Juvenilia (film), Juvenilia'' (1943), both of which won several major awards. Eva Duarte, soon to become the first lady of Argentina as Eva Perón, appeared in two of the studio's films in 1945. The studio became overextended financially and ceased production after 1952. ''Las furias'' (Spanish for "the furies") is a 1960 Argentine drama film directed by Vlasta Lah, based on the 1950 play of the same name by Enrique Suárez de Deza. The Río de la Plata (, "river of silver"), also called the River Plate or La Plata River in English, is the estuary formed by the confluence of the Uruguay River and the Paraná River at Punta Gorda. Miguel de Unamuno y Jugo (29 September 1864 – 31 December 1936) was a Spanish essayist, novelist, poet, playwright, philosopher, professor of Greek and Classics, and later rector at the University of Salamanca. Enrique Carreras (6 January 1925 – 29 August 1995) was a Peruvian-born Argentine film director, screenwriter and film producer, and was one of the most prolific film directors in the history of the Cinema of Argentina. Born in Lima, Peru, Carreras directed nearly 100 films in his 40-year career between 1951 and 1991. His 1964 film ''The Escaped'' was seen at the 14th Berlin International Film Festival. Héctor Olivera (born 5 April 1931) is an Argentine film director, producer and screenwriter. Olivera worked mainly in the cinema of Argentina, but also has directed or contributed to several films made for the United States market. Biography He began his career when he was seventeen as a second assistant director and founded his own production company in 1956 at age twenty-five. He has produced over 100 features. César Alfredo Miró Quesada Bahamonde (1907–1999), more commonly known as César Miró, was a Peruvian writer and composer. He wrote novels, stories, manuscripts, essays, and poetry. Biography César Miró was born on 7 June 1907, in the Miraflores District in Lima, Peru. He studied in the San Agustín and La Inmaculada schools. He used to escape from his college classes to go visit the Biblioteca Nacional del Perú (the National Library of Peru) and submerge himself in books.
