Estonian Newspaper Association
The Estonian Newspaper Association ( et, Eesti Ajalehtede Liit) is an umbrella organisation representing common interests of newspapers published in Estonia. As of July 28, 2007, it represents 41 publications. The association was established in 1990 and has been a member of World Association of Newspapers since 1991. Estonian Press Council In 2002 the association established the Estonian Press Council (Avaliku Sõna Nõukogu), with the purpose of the supervision of the Estonian press. It is a self-regulating body of the Estonian press. It provides a possibility to settle readers' complaints out of court, free of charge. Press Friend Award Since 1994, the association has given out a yearly Press Friend award and an accompanying Press Enemy award. Ingrid Rüütel
Ingrid Rüütel ( Ruus; born 3 November 1935) is an Estonian folklorist and philologist. From 2001 to 2006 she was the First Lady of Estonia, married to President Arnold Rüütel. Personal life Ingrid Rüütel was born in Tallinn as a daughter of communist politician Neeme Ruus and his wife actress Linda Karin Ruus ( Aruküll). Her father was killed by the German Army during World War II in 1942. In 1958, Ingrid married Arnold Rüütel. They have two daughters and six grandchildren. Andrus Ansip
Andrus Ansip (; born 1 October 1956) is an Estonian politician, a member of the European Parliament, the former European Commissioner for Digital Single Market and Vice President of the European Commission, in office from 2014 until 2019. Previously, he was Prime Minister of Estonia from 2005 to 2014 and chairman of the liberal Estonian Reform Party ( et, Reformierakond) from 2004 to 2014. Before his entry into politics Ansip trained as a chemist, before working in banking and business. Juhan Kivirähk (born 2 July 1957 in Tallinn) is an Estonian sociologist. Kivirähk is the older brother of writer Andrus Kivirähk. In 1980 he graduated from Tartu State University in economic cybernetics. Rein Lang (born 4 July 1957) is an Estonian politician, a member of the Estonian Reform Party since 1995, and a diplomat. He was the Minister of Culture in Andrus Ansip's third cabinet until his resignation. Personal life Lang was born at Tartu.
