Esther Termens Cañabate (born November 2, 1984, in Terrassa, Catalonia) is a field hockey midfield player from Spain. She represented her native country at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. Termens was a key member of the Spanish national team that finished fourth at the 2006 Women's Hockey World Cup The 2006 Women's Hockey World Cup was the 11th edition of the Women's Hockey World Cup field hockey tournament. Field Hockey
Field hockey is a team sport structured in standard hockey format, in which each team plays with ten outfield players and a goalkeeper. Teams must drive a round hockey ball by hitting it with a hockey stick towards the rival team's shooting circle and then into the goal. The match is won by the team that scores the most goals. Matches are played on grass, watered turf, artificial turf, synthetic field, or indoor boarded surface. The stick is made of wood, carbon fibre, fibreglass, or a combination of carbon fibre and fibreglass in different quantities. The stick has two sides; one rounded and one flat; only the flat face of the stick is allowed to progress the ball. During play, goalkeepers are the only players allowed to touch the ball with any part of their body. A player's hand is considered part of the stick if holding the stick. 2006 Women's Hockey World Cup
The 2006 Women's Hockey World Cup was the 11th edition of the Women's Hockey World Cup field hockey tournament. It was held from 27 September to 8 October 2006 in Madrid, Spain. The Netherlands won the tournament for the sixth time after defeating Australia 3–1 in the final. Defending champions Argentina won the third place match by defeating Spain 5–0. Qualification Each of the continental champions from five federations and the host nation received an automatic berth. Champions Challenge (field Hockey)
The Men's Hockey Champions Challenge I was an international men's field hockey tournament, played every two years. It was introduced in 2001 by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) in order to broaden hockey's competitive base at world level, the last tournament was held in 2014 in Malaysia and won by South Korea.
