Estela is one of the seven civil parishes of Póvoa de Varzim, Portugal. The population in 2011 was 2,307,Instituto Nacional de Estatística (INE) Census 2011 results according to the 2013 administrative division of Portugal in an area of 11.54 km². Estela is known for the traditional masseira farm practice in sand dunes and its name derives from Latin ''Stella'' (star). Estela Jiménez Esponda
Estela Jiménez Esponda was a Mexican professor, feminist, suffragist and women's rights activist. She directed the newspaper ''Nosotras'' (Us) and was a leader in the development of the Communist Party. During the elections and early tenure of President Lázaro Cárdenas when it appeared he was supportive of women's achievement of the vote, Jiménez served as a sector leader of Party of the Mexican Revolution (PRM) and was involved in the Frente Unico Pro Derechos de la Mujer (FUPDM) (United Front for Women‟s Rights). The FUPDM, which had begun in the 1920s, declined after the unsuccessful ratification of the amendment to Article 34 of the Constitution granting enfranchisement to women. Estela Quesada
Estela Quesada (1924–2011) was a Costa Rican teacher, lawyer and politician. She was one of the first three women elected to the Costa Rican legislature in the first election after women attained enfranchisement. She was the first woman to hold a cabinet-level position in Costa Rica as Minister of Education and was later the first woman to serve as minister of Labor and Social Security. She gained recognition through the publishing of her many plays, prose, and poetry depicting the lives and plight of Chicana women in male-dominated societies.
