Estadio Nelson Fernández is a multi-use stadium in San José de las Lajas San José de las Lajas is a municipality and the capital city of the newly formed Mayabeque Province of Cuba, after the segmentation of La Habana Province in 2011. It is located in the center north of the province, and is bisected by the Carreter ..., Mayabeque Province, Cuba. It is currently used mostly for baseball games and up to 2011 was the home stadium of the Havana Vaqueros team. San José de las Lajas is a municipality and the capital city of the newly formed Mayabeque Province of Cuba, after the segmentation of La Habana Province in 2011. It is located in the center north of the province, and is bisected by the Carretera Central. It was founded in 1778. Geography The municipality includes the villages of Jamaica, Liberación, Tapaste, Pedro Pi, El Perú, Valle del Perú, Morales, Ganuza, Zaragoza, Nazareno, Comunidad Nazareno, El Volcán, La Ruda, Managuaco and San Antonio de las Vegas. Havana Vaqueros
La Habana was a baseball team in the Cuban National Series up to 2010. Representing the former La Habana Province (''Provincia de La Habana''), the ''Vaqueros'' won their first ever National Series in 2009, and reached the National Series final against Santiago de Cuba in 2004-05. La Habana had three pitchers on the Cuban team at the 2006 World Baseball Classic: Yulieski González, Jonder Martínez and Yadier Pedroso. Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams of nine players each, taking turns batting and fielding. The game occurs over the course of several plays, with each play generally beginning when a player on the fielding team, called the pitcher, throws a ball that a player on the batting team, called the batter, tries to hit with a bat.
