Essex Women Cricket Team
The Essex Women's cricket team is the women's representative cricket team for the English historic county of Essex. They play their home games at various grounds across the county, including Toby Howe Cricket Ground, Billericay and Garon Park, Southend-on-Sea. They are captained by Kelly Castle. In 2019, they played in Division Two of the final season of the Women's County Championship, and have since played in the Women's Twenty20 Cup. They are partnered with the regional side Sunrisers. History 1949–2000: Early History Essex Women played their first recorded match in 1949, against Buckinghamshire Women. Kelly Castle
Kelly Shannon Castle (born 4 September 1997) is an English cricketer who currently plays for, and captains, Essex and Sunrisers. She plays as an all-rounder, bowling right-arm medium and batting right-handed. Early life Castle was born on 4 September 1997 in Southend-on-Sea, Essex. She attended Anglia Ruskin University. Domestic career Castle made her county debut in 2011, for Essex against Middlesex. She scored a duck and did not bowl. This was the only game she played in 2011, and played one more in 2012 before becoming more of a regular in the side from 2013 onwards. In 2015 she took her maiden county five-wicket haul, 5/18 against Scotland, and overall took 10 wickets at 14.80 in the County Championship. She was also her side's leading wicket-taker in the 2015 Women's Twenty20 Cup, taking 13 wickets at an average of 8.61. 2014 Women's County Championship
The 2014 Women's County One-Day Championship was the 18th cricket Women's County Championship season. It ran from May to September and saw 33 county teams and teams representing Ireland, Scotland, Wales and the Netherlands compete in a series of divisions. Kent Women won the County Championship as winners of the top division, with Surrey finishing runners-up. The Championship was Kent's sixth title, and their third in four seasons. Competition format Teams played matches within a series of divisions with the winners of the top division being crowned County Champions. Matches were played using a one day format with 50 overs per side. The championship worked on a points system, the winner being the team with most average points of completed games in the first division. Katie Midwood
Katie Louise Midwood (born 1 October 1993) is an English cricketer who currently plays for Leicestershire. An all-rounder, she is a right-handed batter and slow left-arm orthodox bowler. She has previously played for Worcestershire, Essex and Sunrisers. Domestic career Midwood made her county debut in 2014, for Leicestershire against Hampshire. In her sixth match for the side, she achieved her List A high score, hitting 70 * in a victory over Derbyshire. The following season, she was the side's leading run-scorer, with 235 runs at an average of 39.16, as Leicestershire were promoted to Division 2 of the County Championship. Emma Wing Sum Jones (born 8 August 2002) is an English cricketer who currently plays for Essex and South East Stars. An all-rounder, she is a right-arm medium bowler and right-handed batter. Jones has links to Hong Kong, but turned down the chance to play for their national side, instead hoping to play for England. Early life Jones was born on 8 August 2002 in Hatfield, Hertfordshire. Domestic career Jones made her county debut in 2017, for Hertfordshire against the Netherlands, in which she scored 17 runs and bowled six overs. The captain of a cricket team, often referred to as the skipper, is the appointed leader, having several additional roles and responsibilities over and above those of the other players. Fast bowling (also referred to as pace bowling) is one of two main approaches to bowling in the sport of cricket, the other being spin bowling. Catherine Clare Dalton (born 24 October 1992) is an Irish cricketer who currently plays for Essex in English domestic cricket. She plays as a right-handed batter. Dalton gained Irish citizenship in 2015, and was subsequently named in the Irish national team's squad for the 2015 World Twenty20 Qualifier in Thailand. She made her Twenty20 International debut in the tournament's final, against Bangladesh, and went on to make 4 appearances in One Day Internationals and 4 in Twenty20 Internationals for Ireland in 2015 and 2016. Women's London Championship
The Women's London Championship (WLC) is an English women's cricket competition. It was created in 2020 following the introduction of the regional Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy as the highest domestic competition in women's One Day cricket. The competition features the women's county cricket teams from the Home Counties. History Originally the Women's County Championship was the highest 50 over competition in English women's cricket. However, the tournament ended in 2019 to make way for a regionalised 50-over tournament and The Hundred. This decision was not popular with some of the county teams who felt that the new competition had removed their representation in the top flight of women's cricket. The Suffolk Women's cricket team is the women's representative cricket team for the English historic county of Suffolk. They play their home games at various grounds across the county, including Wamil Way, Mildenhall and Woolpit CC, Woolpit. They are captained by Natalie Samuels. In 2019, they played in Division Three of the final season of the Women's County Championship, and have since competed in the Women's Twenty20 Cup. They are partnered with the regional side Sunrisers. 2022 Women's Twenty20 Cup
The 2022 Women's Twenty20 Cup, known for sponsorship reasons as the 2022 Vitality Women's County T20, was the 13th edition of the Women's Twenty20 Cup, an English women's cricket Twenty20 domestic competition. It took place in April and May 2022, with 35 teams taking part, organised into eight regional groups. There was no overall winner, with Lancashire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Suffolk, Leicestershire and Rutland, Sussex, Middlesex and Devon winning their individual groups. The 2021 Women's Twenty20 Cup, known for sponsorship reasons as the 2021 Vitality Women's County T20, was the 12th cricket Women's Twenty20 Cup tournament, taking place in April and May, with 36 teams taking part: 34 county teams plus Scotland and Wales. There was no overall winner, with Hertfordshire, Nottinghamshire, Lancashire, Kent, Gloucestershire and Somerset winning their respective regions. The 2020 tournament was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and, following a restructuring of women's cricket in England that saw the ending of the Women's County Championship, the Twenty20 Cup was the only nationwide tournament featuring county sides in 2021.
