Essen West Station
Essen West station is situated in Essen on the Witten/Dortmund–Oberhausen/Duisburg railway in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is served by lines S1, S3 and S9 of the Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn. History The section of the Witten/Dortmund–Oberhausen/Duisburg railway between Essen and Mülheim an der Ruhr was opened by the Bergisch-Märkische Railway Company on 1 March 1862. The location of the station was selected as a result of its proximity to coal mines and in particular to the Krupp cast steel works. In the 1880s, it was opened as ''Altendorf'' station. Later it was renamed ''Altendorf-Cronenberg'', in 1898 it was renamed ''Altendorf Essen-Süd''. In 1901, with the incorporation of Altendorf and Frohnhausen into the city of Essen, the station was renamed ''Essen West''. Essen (; Latin: ''Assindia'') is the central and, after Dortmund, second-largest city of the Ruhr, the largest urban area in Germany. Wupper-Lippe-Express
The Wupper-Lippe-Express is an hourly Regional-Express service in German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, which forms part of the Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn. It connects Wesel with Wuppertal Hauptbahnhof via Oberhausen and Essen. The line is operated by DB Regio NRW on behalf of the Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Ruhr (VRR). History The RE 49 service was introduced with the timetable change on 15 December 2019. It was introduced together with changes to the S-Bahn network at the 2019 timetable. The service is based on the observation that interchange between the S 3 service from Essen and the RE 5, RE 19 and RB 35 services towards Wesel in Oberhausen was the busiest at any station in the VRR network and this route had no direct service before the introduction of the Wupper-Lippe-Express. Hilden Station
Hilden station is located in the city of Hilden in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is on the Düsseldorf–Solingen line and is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 4 station. It is situated at the meeting point of many important national and international railway lines in the Northwestern Ruhr valley. Dortmund Hauptbahnhof
Dortmund Hauptbahnhof is the main railway station in Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The station's origins lie in a joint station of the Köln-Mindener Eisenbahn and Bergisch-Märkische Eisenbahn which was built north of the city centre in 1847. Wesel is a railway station in Wesel, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The station is located on the Arnhem-Oberhausen railway and the Bocholt-Wesel railway.
