Escanaba Senior High School (also known as EHS or simply Esky) is a public high school in Escanaba, Michigan. It is the sole high school in the Escanaba Area Public Schools district, and serves grades 9–12. M-35 (Michigan Highway)
M-35 is a state trunkline highway in the Upper Peninsula (UP) of the US state of Michigan. It runs for in a general north–south direction and connects the cities of Menominee, Escanaba, and Negaunee. The southern section of M-35 in Menominee and Delta counties carries two additional designations; M-35 forms a segment of the Lake Michigan Circle Tour, and it is the UP Hidden Coast Recreational Heritage Trail, which is a part of what is now called the Pure Michigan Byways Program. Along the southern section, the highway is the closest trunkline to the Green Bay, a section of Lake Michigan. The northern section of the highway turns inland through sylvan areas of the UP, connecting rural portions of Delta and Marquette counties. Kevin Ray Tapani (born February 18, 1964) is a former Major League Baseball pitcher who played for the New York Mets, Minnesota Twins, Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago White Sox, and Chicago Cubs from 1989 to 2001. Early life Tapani was raised in Escanaba in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. His surname is a Finnish name: his great-grandparents had emigrated from Finland to the Upper Peninsula. He quarterbacked Escanaba High School to the 1981 MHSAA Class A State Football Championship. Tapani then went on to attend Central Michigan University, where he was a star pitcher for the Chippewas from 1983 to 1986, finishing with a career record of 23–8, helping the Chippewas to three Mid-American Conference titles, and tossing a no-hitter against Eastern Michigan University in 1986. Joshua Wayne Parisian (born June 28, 1989) is an American mixed martial artist who competes in the heavyweight division of the UFC. Background Parisian grew up in Escanaba, Michigan, before moving from Martinsburg, West Virginia before the second grade. Because of an abusive stepfather – who eventually got jail time for domestic violence – he and his mother stayed a lot in shelters. Tom Casperson
Tom Casperson (July 20, 1959 – November 29, 2020) was an American businessman and politician from the State of Michigan. He formerly served as a Republican member of the Michigan State Senate, representing the 38th district, which includes much of the Upper Peninsula. He previously served in the Michigan State House of Representatives, representing the 108th district. Personal life Casperson was born in Escanaba, Michigan, in 1959. Escanaba, Michigan
Escanaba ( ), commonly shortened to Esky, is a port city in Delta County in the U.S. state of Michigan, located on Little Bay de Noc in the state's Upper Peninsula. The population was 12,616 at the 2010 census, making it the third-largest city in the Upper Peninsula after Marquette and Sault Ste. Marie. It is the seat of government of Delta County. There is also Escanaba Township, which is north of the city and is not adjacent to it, although a portion of the urban area around the city extends into the township. Marquette Senior High School (MSHS) is a public, coeducational high school located in Marquette, Michigan, serving grades 9–12. The school enrolled 968 students in 2021-22, making it the largest high school in the Upper Peninsula. History Marquette's first high school was constructed in 1859 on property given to the city by Morgan Hewitt. Located on the corner of Pine and Ridge Streets, the community initially opposed the project because it was "on the edge of the wilderness."
