Turkish Language
Turkish ( , ), also referred to as Turkish of Turkey (''Türkiye Türkçesi''), is the most widely spoken of the Turkic languages, with around 80 to 90 million speakers. It is the national language of Turkey and Northern Cyprus. Significant smaller groups of Turkish speakers also exist in Iraq, Syria, Germany, Austria, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Greece, the Caucasus, and other parts of Europe and Central Asia. Cyprus has requested the European Union to add Turkish as an official language, even though Turkey is not a member state. Turkish is the 13th most spoken language in the world. Ahmet Ertuğ
Ahmet Ertuğ (born 1949) is a fine art photographer and publisher based in Istanbul, Turkey. He was trained as an architect at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London, from where he graduated in 1974. He specializes in large format photography of architectural and archaeological edifices of the Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman periods in the history of Turkey. With Ahmet Kocabıyık he founded Ertuğ & Kocabıyık: Publishers of Fine Art Books. Ahmet Ertuğ's photographs were published in a series of 25 volumes. In 2009 Ahmet Ertuğ photographed 30 historical libraries in Europe. He developed the volume ''Temples of Knowledge: Libraries of the Western World'' from these photographs. His latest photographic project documenting the architecture of grand opera houses has been published under the title ''Palaces of Music: Opera Houses of Europe'' in December 2010, text written by Michael Forsyth. Ismail Ertug (Turkish: İsmail Ertuğ; born 5 December 1975) is a German politician and Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from Germany. He is a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany, part of the Party of European Socialists. Early life and career Of ethnic Turkish origin, Ertug was born in Amberg, in 1975, three years after his parents immigrated from Seferihisar (in Izmir, Turkey) to Germany. After finishing his apprenticeship as industrial management assistant, he worked as a customer consultant for enterprises at the German general health insurance (AOK) where he studied business management. Mr. Osman Ertuğ (born 1949) served as the ''de facto'' ambassador of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to the United States of America from 2002 to 2007, when he was succeeded by Hilmi Akil. As the TRNC is not recognized as sovereign, his title was officially that of ''Representative of the Turkish Cypriot Community in Washington DC''.
