Erol Kaymak
Dr Erol Kaymak is a Turkish Cypriot academic who in 2004 from 2007 was the Chair of the Department of International Relations at Eastern Mediterranean University in north Cyprus. Early career Kaymak received his BA in Political Science at State University of New York at Buffalo in 1990. He completed a master's degree in Political Science at Texas Tech University in 1994, and in 1999 completed his PhD in Political Science at Texas Tech University in Political Science. Recent activities Erol Kaymak is currently interested in the study of international phenomena from the vantage point of constructivism, a sociological view of international relations, with the intent of contributing to an understanding of the relationship between ethnic conflict, sovereignty, and the international system. Turkish Cypriots
Turkish Cypriots or Cypriot Turks ( tr, Kıbrıs Türkleri or ''Kıbrıslı Türkler''; el, Τουρκοκύπριοι, Tourkokýprioi) are ethnic Turks originating from Cyprus. Following the Ottoman conquest of the island in 1571, about 30,000 Turkish settlers were given land once they arrived in Cyprus.. In international relations, constructivism is a social theory that asserts that significant aspects of international relations are shaped by ideational factors (which are historically and socially constructed), not simply material factors. The most important ideational factors are those that are collectively held; these collectively held beliefs construct the interests and identities of actors.
