Erode City Municipal Corporation
Erode Corporation is a civic administrative body that governs the City of Erode, India. The Corporation consists of a legislative body, headed by the City Mayor and an executive body headed by the Corporation Commissioner. The Corporation's headquarters is in the Municipal Corporation Building, Erode, near Panneer selvam Park. History Erode Municipal Council came into existence in the year of 1871, covering a mere area of around 8.4 km2. In 1917, Periyar E. V. Ramasamy the then Municipal Chairman of Erode has proposed the expansion of town limits by merging the adjoining local bodies such as Veerappan Chatram, Vairapalayam and Periyasemur. But however things were kept only on paper and in 1980 it was upgraded as Special Grade Municipality with the same area of just 8.4 km2. Periyasemur is a neighbourhood of the city of Erode in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Until 2010, it was an independent Municipal Administrative body with a population of about 35,000 and in 2011, it has been officially combined with the Integrated Erode Municipal Corporation. Suriyampalayam
Suriyampalayam is a panchayat town in the city of Erode, Tamil Nadu. It is the Headquarters for one of the four zones of Erode Municipal Corporation. In 2011, Suriyampalayam was an independent panchayat town, but has since been merged with Erode during the Corporation expansion that happened in 2011. VOC Park, Erode
V.O.Chidambaranar Park or VOC Park is a recreational park located in the South Indian city of Erode in Tamil Nadu. The park is owned and maintained by Erode Municipal Corporation. This park was built in British India period by chairman Srinivasa Mudaliar. National Highway 544, commonly referred to as NH 544, (''old number'' NH 47) is a National Highway in South India connecting Salem city in Tamil Nadu to the city of Kochi in Kerala. It is also called the Salem-Kochi Highway.
