Ernest Franklin Gardner
Ernest Franklin "John" Gardner (January 5, 1923 – May 13, 1995) was a farmer, educator and political figure in Saskatchewan. He represented Moosomin from 1965 to 1975 in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan as a Liberal. He was born in Kennedy, Saskatchewan and was educated there and went on to study mechanical engineering at the University of Saskatchewan. During World War II, Gardner served as a pilot and navigator in the Royal Canadian Air Force. After the war, he worked as a selection officer in the Canadian civil service. Later, he farmed during the summer and taught at the University of Saskatchewan during the winter. Gardner also served on the council for the rural municipality of Wawken and as mayor of Kennedy. He was a member of the Kipling Hospital Board and the Cannington Home Care Board. Gardner served in the provincial cabinet as Minister of Public Works. Moosomin (provincial Electoral District)
Moosomin is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, Canada. Located in southeastern Saskatchewan, this constituency was one of 25 created for the 1st Saskatchewan general election in 1905. Formerly represented by speaker Don Toth, it is arguably one of the most conservative ridings in the province, having been in the hands of a centre-right party without interruption since 1975. It has never elected a member of the CCF or NDP, though the NDP came within 51 votes of winning it during its 1991 landslide. The largest centre in the constituency is the town of Moosomin. The Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan is the legislative chamber of the Saskatchewan Legislature in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. Bills passed by the assembly are given royal assent by the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, in the name of the King in Right of Saskatchewan. The assembly meets at the Saskatchewan Legislative Building in Regina. There are 61 constituencies in the province, which elect members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to the Legislative Assembly. Alexander Hamilton McDonald
Alexander Hamilton (Hammy) McDonald (March 16, 1919 – March 31, 1980) was a Canadian politician. Born in Fleming, Saskatchewan, he was the son of a Saskatchewan farm family and was the third generation of his family to farm in the Fleming area. Military During World War II Hammy served overseas as a Flight Lieutenant in the RCAF. Hammy had learned to fly before the war. A doctor in the Fleming community in which he grew up had a plane and taught him and several other boys how to fly. By virtue of this fact, Hammy was one of the very earliest pilots in the RCAF. Until 1944 he flew a Spitfire with real distinction. He was shot down several times, more than once in Europe, and made his way back through enemy territory to fly again. Larry Wayne Birkbeck (October 9, 1943 – August 29, 2016) is a consultant and former farmer and political figure in Saskatchewan. He represented Moosomin from 1975 to 1986 in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan as a Progressive Conservative member. He was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the son of James Birkbeck, and was educated in Welwyn and Rocanville. After completing his education, Birkbeck operated a dairy farm near Welwyn.
