Erika Burgess
Erika Burgess (born 1 October 1984 in New Plymouth, New Zealand) is a New Zealand netball player. Burgess plays for the Southern Steel in the ANZ Championship, having previously played for the Western Flyers (2003–06) and Southern Sting (2007) in the National Bank Cup. A former member of the New Zealand A squad, Burgess made the extended training squad for the Silver Ferns The New Zealand national netball team, commonly known as the Silver Ferns, represent New Zealand in international netball. Lauren Burgess
Lauren Burgess (born 24 November 1986 in New Plymouth, New Zealand) is a New Zealand rugby union player. She plays in the Centre position for the Manawatu Cyclones, and for New Zealand's national women's sevens team. Rugby union career Her transition back to rugby was with the Stratford club, after they decided to field a team in the Manawatu club competition. It didn't take long for her talent to be recognised - she was selected in the Manawatu rep side as a midfielder before a back injury sidelined her for the season. She came back strongly and set her sights on making the national women's sevens squad. After being identified as a long-term prospect, she attended several training camps before being named in the squad to travel to Dubai for the inaugural IRB women's world series tournament. The New Zealand national netball team, commonly known as the Silver Ferns, represent New Zealand in international netball. ''The Southland Times'' is the regional daily paper for Southland, including Invercargill, and neighbouring parts of Otago, in New Zealand. Western Flyers
The Western Flyers were a New Zealand netball team which represented most of the Central, Southern and Eastern North Island in the National Bank Cup. The team was formed in 1998 and played all ten seasons of the competition. At the end of the 2007, the Flyers merged with the Capital Shakers to form the Central Pulse, one of five New Zealand teams in the ANZ Championship, which commenced in 2008. Franchise The Flyers franchise was based in New Plymouth, Whanganui, Napier and Palmerston North. The National Bank Cup was the pre-eminent national netball competition in New Zealand between 1998 and 2007. From 2008, it was replaced by the ANZ Championship.
