Erik Freitag (born 1 February 1940) is an Austrian composer and violinist. Life Born in Vienna, Freitag studied violin at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, with, among others, Eduard Melkus and composition with Karl-Birger Blomdahl at the Royal Swedish Academy of Music. From 1964 to 1967, he was violinist in the Sveriges Radio Symfoniorchester and from 1967 to 1970 in the Stockholms Filharmoniska Orchester.Erik Freitag

Royal Swedish Academy Of Music
The Royal Swedish Academy of Music ( sv, Kungliga Musikaliska Akademien), founded in 1771 by King Gustav III, is one of the Royal Academies in Sweden. At the time of its foundation, only one of its co-founder was a professional musician, Ferdinand Zellbell the Younger. The Academy is an independent organization, which acts to promote the artistic, scientific, educational and cultural development of music. Fredrik Wetterqvist is director of the Academy. The Academy consists of 170 Swedish members belonging to various spheres of the music industry and has a research committee which has been operational since 1980s. Eduard Melkus
Eduard Melkus (born 1 September 1928 in Baden bei Wien) is an Austrian violinist and violist.''International Who's Who in Classical Music 2003'' Following the Second World War, Melkus dedicated himself to the exploration of historically informed performance. He was a member of the 1949 Vienna viola da gamba quartet, the select group of musicians that included Alice and Nikolaus Harnoncourt and the harpsichordist Gustav Leonhardt who started the Early Music movement. He performed and recorded more than 200 works from the mid 17th through the late 18th centuries with his ensemble ''Capella Academica Wien'', or the French harpsichordist Huguette Dreyfus, and in his time, tapped a worldwide audience. Karl-Birger Blomdahl
Karl-Birger Blomdahl (19 October 1916 – 14 June 1968) was a Swedish composer and conductor born in Växjö. He was educated in biochemistry, but was primarily active in music and by his experimental compositions he became one of the big names in Swedish modernism. His teachers included Hilding Rosenberg. He died in Kungsängen, Stockholm. His third symphony, ''Facettes'' – a work in one subdivided movement as a twelve-tone variation-form piece – from 1950 is a major contribution to the repertoire. In 1959 he composed the opera ''Aniara'' based on the poem by Harry Martinson. His output of compositions also includes concertos for violin and viola, a chamber concerto for piano, winds and percussion, at least one other opera (''Herr von Hancken''), and much chamber music, including a trio for clarinet, cello and piano. René Staar
René Staar (born 30 May 1951) is an Austrian composer, violinist and conductor. Life Born in Graz, Staar composed his first pieces as a child. He attended the ''Östermalms Musikskole Stockholm'' in 1962-1963 and studied music theory with Walter Wasservogel. This was followed by violin studies with Franz Samohyl and, from 1965, studies in harmony and counterpoint at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. In 1968, Staar completed guest studies at the Sibelius Academy with Anja Ignatius (violin) and Izumi Tateno (piano). In Helsinki he also made his debut as a violinist and pianist.
