Erdal Öz Literature Award
The Erdal Öz Prize is a Turkish literary award presented annually. It was established in 2008 by Can Publisher, in memory of author and founder of Can Publisher, Erdal Öz. The winner receives 15,000 Turkish liras, approximately US $500. Turkish literature ( tr, Türk edebiyatı) comprises oral compositions and written texts in Turkic languages. Küçük İskender
Derman İskender Över, also known as Küçük İskender (28 May 1964 – 3 July 2019), was a Turkish people, Turkish poet, critic and actor. Biography İskender was born on 28 May 1964 in Istanbul. He graduated from Kabataş High School for Boys, then he studied in Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine and left school in his last year. Later on, he studied at Department of Sociology in Istanbul University, and left after 3 years education. He wrote poems, criticisms, and essays in various magazines starting from the 1980s until the day he died. His first poem was published in the journal ''Milliyet Genç Sanat'', under the name İskender Över. His poems began to be published professionally in ''Adam Sanat magazine'' in 1985. Gülten Akın
Gülten Akın (23 January 1933 – 4 November 2015) was a Turkish poet. Her poetry is considered to be culturally significant to Turkey. Akin was born in 1933 in Yozgat, Turkey. She attended Beşiktaş Atatürk Anatolian High School and graduated from Ankara University Law School in 1955. She married her husband Yaşar Cankoçak in 1956, with whom she had five children. Because of her husband's position as the governor of various provincial districts in Turkey, she moved around several provinces of Turkey, working as a lawyer, assistant lawyer and teacher in many of them. In 1972, Akın and her family settled in Ankara, where she worked at the Turkish Language Association, the regulatory body of the Turkish language, and became a member of the Editorial Team at the Ministry of Culture. İhsan Oktay Anar
İhsan Oktay Anar (born 1960 in Yozgat, Turkey), is a Turkish writer, illustrator, literature translator and an academic. He studied philosophy in Ege University on undergraduate (1984), graduate (1989) and doctoral levels. Anar now teaches at the same university, lecturing in antique philosophy and Greek. In 2009, he won the Erdal Öz Literature Award "for his valuable novels and original style". Murathan Mungan
Murathan Mungan (born 21 April 1955 in Istanbul) is a Turkish author, short story writer, playwright, and poet. Biography Mungan's family originates from Mardin. His father is an Arab and mother is a Bosniak. After receiving his BA from the Faculty of Letters and Drama at Ankara University, he worked as a dramaturg before devoting all his time to writing poetry, plays, short stories, novels, film scenarios, and songs. His first collection of poems, ''Osmanlıya Dair Hikayat'' (''Stories about Ottomans'') was published in 1980, making Mungan an overnight success. His output remained prolific and various poetry books followed, notably ''Yaz Gecer'' (''Summer Passes'') and ''Metal''. He has written four theatre plays, which earned him wider success. Orhan Pamuk
Ferit Orhan Pamuk (born 7 June 1952) is a Turkish novelist, screenwriter, academic, and recipient of the 2006 Nobel Prize in Literature. One of Turkey's most prominent novelists, his work has sold over thirteen million books in sixty-three languages, making him the country's best-selling writer. Adalet Ağaoğlu (née Sümer; 23 October 1929 – 14 July 2020) was a Turkish women, Turkish Turkish women in literature, novelist and Theatre in Turkey, playwright, considered one of the foremost novelists of 20th-century Turkish literature. Latife Tekin
Latife Tekin (born 1957) is one of the most influential Turkish female authors. Biography She was born in 1957 in the village of Karacahevenk, in the Bünyan district of Kayseri. She came to Istanbul with her family in 1966 when she was 9 years old. She completed her secondary education at Beşiktaş Girls' High School. She worked for a short time in Istanbul Telephone General Directorate. Her first book "Sevgili Arsız Ölüm" was published in 1983. She gained great fame with her first novel, which tells about village life and people in Anatolia in a fairy-tale atmosphere and with the taste of "One Hundred Years of Solitude" (Gabriel Garcia Marquez).
