The Albanian Bishops' Conference (KISH) ( sq, Konferenca Ipeshkvnore e Shqipërisë; la, Conferentia Episcopalis Albaniæ) is an episcopal conference of the Catholic Church in Albania. The conference is organized by Archbishop Angelo Massafra, Archbishop and Metropolitan of Shkodrë-Pult conducted. It is a member of the Council of European Episcopal Conferences (CCEE). Episcopal Conference
An episcopal conference, sometimes called a conference of bishops, is an official assembly of the bishops of the Catholic Church in a given territory. Episcopal conferences have long existed as informal entities. The first assembly of bishops to meet regularly, with its own legal structure and ecclesial leadership function, is the Swiss Bishops' Conference, which was founded in 1863. More than forty episcopal conferences existed before the Second Vatican Council. Their status was confirmed by the Second Vatican Council and further defined by Pope Paul VI's 1966 ''motu proprio'', ''Ecclesiae sanctae''. Episcopal conferences are generally defined by geographic borders, often national ones, with all the bishops in a given country belonging to the same conference, although they may also include neighboring countries. Mary Teresa Bojaxhiu, MC (; 26 August 1910 – 5 September 1997), better known as Mother Teresa ( sq, Nënë Tereza), was an Indian-Albanian Catholic nun who, in 1950, founded the Missionaries of Charity. Tirana ( , ; aln, Tirona) is the capital and largest city of Albania. It is located in the centre of the country, enclosed by mountains and hills with Dajti rising to the east and a slight valley to the northwest overlooking the Adriatic Sea in the distance. George Anthony Frendo
George Anthony Frendo O.P. (born 4 April 1946) is a Maltese prelate and the Archbishop Emeritus of Tiranë-Durrës in Albania. George Frendo was born in Qormi Malta on April 4, 1946. At the age of 15 he was professed as a member of the order of preachers. In 1963, Frendo started his studies for the priesthood together with Paul Cremona, later the Archbishop of Malta. Both Frendo and Cremona were ordained priests by Emanuele Gerada on April 2, 1969. Frendo served eight years as the parish priest of Gwardamanġa. In 2006 Pope Benedict XVI appointed Frendo Auxiliary Bishop of Tiranë-Durrës in Albania with the titular see of Buthrotum.
