Enrique M. Jurado
Enrique M. Jurado (born October 12, 1976, in Lima, Peru) is a Thoroughbred racehorse jockey in the United States. He rode for three years at Monterrico Racecourse in the Lima suburb of Santiago de Surco before emulating his countryman Edgar Prado and emigrated to the U.S. in 1994 where he began riding at racetracks in Florida. Among his better known hoses, Jurado rode the talented gelding, Sir Bear Sir Bear (foaled 1993 in Florida) is a retired American Thoroughbred racehorse who got better as he grew older and raced successfully until retiring at age ten. Gelding
A gelding is a castrated male horse or other equine, such as a pony, donkey or a mule. Castration, as well as the elimination of hormonally driven behavior associated with a stallion, allows a male equine to be calmer and better-behaved, making the animal quieter, gentler and generally more suitable as an everyday working animal. Edgar Prado
Edgar S. Prado (Lima, June 12, 1967) is a Peruvian-born American jockey, a U.S. Racing Hall of Fame jockey in thoroughbred horse racing. His big break came in 1997 when he won 536 races, making him the fourth rider in history to win 500 races in one year. Much of that success was gained in Maryland, where he ruled that circuit for several years. A resident of Hollywood, Florida in 2004 Prado became the 19th jockey in thoroughbred racing history to win 5,000 races. Santiago de Surco, commonly known simply as Surco, is a district of Lima, Peru.
