Endenich
Endenich is a neighborhood in the western part of Bonn, Germany. Before 1904 it was an independent municipality. The village of Endenich was founded in the 8th century, and was first mentioned in 804 as ''Antiniche''. Today, about 12,000 people live in Endenich. Sights Composer and pianist Robert Schumann lived for the last two years of his life in the mental clinic ''Richarz'sche Heilanstalt'' on Magdalenenstraße (on today's Sebastianstraße) where he died on July 29, 1856. The former clinic now houses the Schumannhaus Bonn, a music library and museum. In the northern part is the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy which was opened in 1972. The improvisational theatre Springmaus, founded by Bill Mockridge, is located in Endenich. Robert Schumann
Robert Schumann (; 8 June 181029 July 1856) was a German composer, pianist, and influential music critic. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest composers of the Romantic era. Schumann left the study of law, intending to pursue a career as a virtuoso pianist. His teacher, Friedrich Wieck, a German pianist, had assured him that he could become the finest pianist in Europe, but a hand injury ended this dream. Schumann then focused his musical energies on composing. In 1840, Schumann married Friedrich Wieck's daughter Clara Wieck, after a long and acrimonious legal battle with Friedrich, who opposed the marriage. A lifelong partnership in music began, as Clara herself was an established pianist and music prodigy. Clara and Robert also maintained a close relationship with German composer Johannes Brahms. Bonn
The federal city of Bonn ( lat, Bonna) is a city on the banks of the Rhine in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, with a population of over 300,000. Bill Mockridge
William Mockridge (born 28 July 1947, Toronto) is a Canadian-German actor and Kabarett performer. He is the founder of the Springmaus Theatre in Bonn. He became known to a broad public through his portrayal of Erich Schiller in the WDR series ''Lindenstraße''. Biography After leaving school, Mockridge attended, from 1963 to 1966 and graduated from, the National Theatre School of Canada in Montreal. This was followed by his first engagements at the Manitoba Theatre Center and, from 1968 to 1969, at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Stratford, Ontario. During a tour of Germany in 1970, the potential of German theatre inspired him so much that he decided to work in Germany from then on. He initially worked as an assistant director at the Ulmer Theater, where he had his first engagement at a German theater between 1971 and 1973. Composer
A composer is a person who writes music. The term is especially used to indicate composers of Western classical music, or those who are composers by occupation. Pianist
A pianist ( , ) is an individual musician who plays the piano. Since most forms of Western music can make use of the piano, pianists have a wide repertoire and a wide variety of styles to choose from, among them traditional classical music, jazz, blues, and all sorts of popular music, including rock and roll. The Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy (MPIfRA) (German: ''Max-Planck-Institut für Radioastronomie'') is located in Bonn, Germany. It is one of 80 institutes in the Max Planck Society (German: Max-Planck-Gesellschaft). History By combining the already existing radio astronomy faculty of the University of Bonn led by Otto Hachenberg with the new Max Planck institute the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy was formed. Bernhard Hoëcker
Bernhard Hoëcker (; born Bernhard Hoecker-von Mühlenfels; 20 March 1970) is a German comedian, actor and television presenter. He is best known for the spoof show Switch, as well as being a permanent member of the previous Genial guessing team (2003–2011) Genial Daneben. Biography Hoëcker grew up in Frankfurt. At the age of 10, he moved to Bonn with his family. He finished his ''Abitur'' (equivalent of the US high school diploma) at the Clara-Schumann-Gymnasium. Between 1993 and 1996, Hoëcker studied economics up to ''intermediate diploma level'' (German: ''Vordiplom'') at the University of Bonn and quit his studies thereafter. Dirk Bach (23 April 1961 – 1 October 2012) was a German actor, comedian and television presenter, best known as the co-host of ''Ich bin ein Star – Holt mich hier raus!'', the German version of '' I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!''. Career Bach was born in Cologne. After school, he worked in theatres in Amsterdam, Brussels, London, New York, Utrecht, and Vienna. Bastian Pastewka (born 4 April 1972) is a German actor and comedian. In Bochum, he first became known to a wider audience in Germany around 1996 as a regular cast member of the comedy show ''Die Wochenshow'' (engl.: The Weekly Show), essentially a mock news program.
