Empresa Eléctrica del Ecuador (literally ''Electric Company of Ecuador'') or Emelec was the name of an Ecuadorian electric company based in the city of Guayaquil. Until 2004, it was owned by Fernando Aspiazu who used to be president of Banco del Progreso, Ecuador's second largest bank that was closed in March 1999. In 2004, the Ecuadorian state had debts of $400 million and $800 million with state-owned ''Centro Nacional de Control de Energía'' (Cenace) to EMELEC. Therefore, in 2004, the government of Alfredo Palacio confined by decree the administration of Emelec's actives for five years to ''Corporación para la Administración Temporal Eléctrica de Guayaquil'' (CATEG; literally ''Corporation for the Temporal Electric Administration of Guayaquil''), an entity administrated by Venezuelan power company Electricidad de Valencia (Eleval). Luis Alfredo Palacio González (born 22 January 1939) is an Ecuadorian cardiologist and former politician who served as President of Ecuador from 20 April 2005 to 15 January 2007. From 15 January 2003 to 20 April 2005, he served as vice president, after which he was appointed to the presidency when the Ecuadorian Congress removed President Lucio Gutiérrez from power following a week of growing unrest with his government. ''Electricidad'' (English: ''Electricity'') is the second studio album by Mexican duo Jesse & Joy. The album was released on 15 September 2009, by Warner Music México, and reached number twenty-one on the Mexican Albums Chart. Club Sport Emelec is an Ecuadorian sports club based in Guayaquil that is best known for their professional football team. The football team plays in the Ecuadorian Serie A, the highest level of professional football in the country. Emelec has won fourteen Serie A titles and one of the division B, holding the record of doing so in all decades in which the Serie A has been played. They also have won seven regional titles (record in their region), a record-tying 5 of them in the professional era.
