Emmy Stradal
Emmy Stradal (née Ecker; 1877–1925) was an Austrian housewife-turned-politician and a feminist. Being a member of the German People's Party she served at the Parliament. She was among the early supporters of girls' education in Austria. Biography She was born Emilie Maria Sofie Ecker in Wolkersdorf on 28 October 1877. Her father Michael Ecker was a notary in Stockerau, and through her mother, Adele Ecker, she was related to the Moravian journalist Emil Pindter. She attended elementary and public schools in Stockerau. On 11 August 1896, at the age of only nineteen, she married Adalbert Stradal, who was sixteen years her senior and came from a German-Bohemian family. They had four children: Hedwig, Hermann, Albert and Otto. Stradal was part of the middle-class women's movement. Wolkersdorf Im Weinviertel
Wolkersdorf im Weinviertel is a town in the district of Mistelbach in the Austrian state of Lower Austria. It is situated in the Weinviertel, about 15 km north of Vienna, on the main road from Vienna to Brno (European route E461). The municipality consists of the subdivisions Wolkersdorf, Riedenthal, Pfösing, Obersdorf and Münichsthal. It was elevated to town status in 1969. Therese Schlesinger
Therese Schlesinger, née Eckstein (6 June 1863 – 5 June 1940), was an Austrian feminist and politician. Life Therese Schlesinger was born in Vienna, capital of the Austrian Empire, on 6 June 1863 to an upper middle-class Jewish family. Among her siblings were the early psychologist Emma Eckstein, the writer Gustav Eckstein and the polymath Frederick Eckstein. She married Viktor Schlesinger on 24 June 1888 and her daughter, Anna, was born a year later. The birth was very hard on Schlesinger with her right leg being partially disabled enough to force her into a wheelchair for several years. Her husband died on 23 January 1891. From 1905 she lived with her mother, daughter, sister Emma and brother Gustav until their deaths during the 1920s. Her daughter's suicide in 1920 profoundly effected Schlesinger.
