Emil Nulsen (9 June 1885 – 3 August 1965) was an Australian politician who was a Australian Labor Party (Western Australian Branch), Labor Party member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly, Legislative Assembly of Western Australia from 1932 to 1962. The Murchison is an interim Australian bioregion located within the Mid West of Western Australia. The bioregion is loosely related to the catchment area of the Murchison River and has an area of . William Mortimer Marshall (22 June 1885 – 19 August 1952) was an Australian politician who was a Labor Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia from 1921 until his death, representing the seat of Murchison. He served as a minister in the government of Frank Wise. Marshall was born in North Creswick, Victoria, a small town near Ballarat. His work as a miner took him to Malaya and Rhodesia, and eventually to Western Australia, where he was employed on the mines at Lawlers and Youanmi. The premier of Western Australia is the head of government of the state of Western Australia. The role of premier at a state level is similar to the role of the prime minister of Australia at a federal level. The premier leads the executive branch of the Government of Western Australia and is accountable to the Parliament of Western Australia. The premier is appointed by the governor of Western Australia. By convention, the governor appoints as premier whoever has the support of the majority of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly. Frederick Charles Lee Smith (11 November 1883 – 25 August 1960) was an Australian trade unionist, journalist, and politician who was a Labor Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia from 1932 to 1950, representing the seat of Brown Hill-Ivanhoe. He served as a minister in the government of John Willcock. Early life Smith was born in Reefton, a small town on the west coast of New Zealand's South Island. He was taken to Australia as a small child, and spent his early years in Melbourne, Victoria. Smith arrived in Western Australia in 1904, and settled in Kalgoorlie, working for Kalgoorlie Electric Tramways in various capacities. He eventually became president of the Kalgoorlie Tramway Employees' Union. 1939 Western Australian State Election
Elections were held in the state of Western Australia on 18 March 1939 to elect all 50 members to the Legislative Assembly. The Labor Party, led by Premier John Willcock, won a third term in office against the Country and Nationalist parties, led by Opposition Leader Charles Latham and Robert Ross McDonald respectively. Results The election was notable for the lack of change to the status quo. Only one member—former Speaker Michael Troy, who had been in the Assembly continuously since 1904—opted to retire, being replaced in his seat of Mount Magnet by fellow Labor member Lucien Triat. The Shire of Dundas is a local government area in the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia. The shire covers an area of and its seat of government is the town of Norseman. Its territory lies between Norseman and the border with South Australia (including much of the Eyre Highway), and is between east of the state capital, Perth. History The shire was first established as the second Dundas Road District on 21 June 1929, when the Norseman Road District was abolished and replaced by a re-established Dundas board. Salmon Gums, Western Australia
Salmon Gums is a small town in Western Australia located 106 km north of Esperance on the Coolgardie-Esperance Highway. The name is derived from a prominent stretch of '' Eucalyptus salmonophloia'' (Salmon Gum) trees which formed a landmark in the town's early days. The town is part of the Shire of Esperance. At the 2016 census, Salmon Gums had a population of 191. The surrounding areas produce wheat and other cereal crops. The town is a receival site for Cooperative Bulk Handling. History The first potential use of a townsite was as a watering spot for the proposed Esperance to Norseman Railway, since Salmon Gums is roughly halfway between these two towns. Land for a town-site was set aside in 1912 and the name was recommended in 1916. This land lay within the tribal boundaries of the indigenous Kalaako.
