''Emergency'' is a series of real-time strategy simulation video games by German developer Sixteen Tons Entertainment, designed by Ralph Stock. In the games, players control Emergency service, emergency services—namely police, Fire department, fire, emergency medical services, and Technisches Hilfswerk, technical services—and command operations to handle a variety of Emergency, emergencies. The first game in the series, ''Emergency (video game), Emergency: Fighters for Life'', was published by TopWare Interactive in 1998. Ralph Stock
Ralph Stock (born 1969) is a German game designer. He is best known for his video games Mad TV (video game), ''Mad TV'' and Emergency (video game series), ''Emergency''. Life and career Early years (1977–1992) Around 1977, Ralph Stock stumbled upon a Commodore PET at the home of a family friend and had his first chance to dabble in computer science. Hamurabi (video game), Hamurabi, a Resource management (gaming), resource management game, spurred his fascination with video games and their development. In the early ‘80s, at the age of twelve, Ralph Stock built his first computer, a Sinclair ZX81, from an assembly kit. He used this computer for his first experiments in programming. A single-player video game is a video game where input from only one player is expected throughout the course of the gaming session. A cutscene or event scene (sometimes in-game cinematic or in-game movie) is a sequence in a video game that is not interactive, interrupting the gameplay. Such scenes are used to show conversations between characters, set the mood, reward the player, introduce newer models and gameplay elements, show the effects of a player's actions, create emotional connections, improve pacing or foreshadow future events.
