Embassy Of Palestine, Lima
The Embassy of the State of Palestine in Peru is the higher diplomatic representation of the State of Palestine in Peru. Since 2015, the embassy is located in San Isidro District, Lima, San Isidro, Lima; the current ambassador of Palestine to Peru is Walid Muaqqat. Peru does not have a representation in Ramallah or any other city in Palestine, although former president Pedro Castillo announced the intention of the country to open an Embassy in 2022. History The first Palestinian representation in Peru opened in 1979, under the left-leaning Revolutionary Government of the Armed Forces of Peru, as the office of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), which at the time had no diplomatic status. San Isidro District, Lima
San Isidro is a district of the Lima Province in Peru. It is located in the west center of the city, it has a few meters of coastline. Officially created on April 24, 1931, San Isidro, along with Orrantia and Country Club districts, was separated from Miraflores. San Isidro has become a major financial quarter in recent years, as many banks and businesses left downtown Lima to set up their headquarters in modern office blocks. It is inhabited by mostly upper middle and upper-class families. Geography The district has a total land area of 9.78 km². Its administrative center is located at 109 meters above sea level. The Palestinian government is the government of the Palestinian Authority or State of Palestine. The Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (EC) is the highest executive body of the Palestine Liberation Organization and acts as the government. Since June 2007, there have been two separate administrations in Palestine, one in the West Bank and the other in the Gaza Strip. The government on the West Bank was generally recognised as the Palestinian Authority Government. On the other hand, the government in the Gaza Strip claimed to be the legitimate government of the Palestinian Authority. Walid Salim Youssef Abdel Rahim ( Kunya: Abu Khaled; Zarqa, — Amman ) was a Palestinian– Jordanian journalist and diplomat. He served as the first ambassador of the State of Palestine to Peru between 2006 (formally since 2010) and 2014, and to Uruguay from 2014 until his death. Biography He studied journalism and media at the University of Havana in Cuba, and worked on the staff of the Embassy of Palestine in Cuba until 2005, when he became ''chargé d'affaires'' of the embassy of Palestine in Nicaragua. On October 31, 2005, he was granted the rank of ambassador and appointed head of the Special Mission of Palestine in Peru. ''Caretas'' (Masks) is a weekly newsmagazine published in Lima, Peru, renowned for its investigative journalism. History ''Caretas'' was founded in October 1950 by Doris Gibson and Francisco Igartua. In the mid-1950s, Gibson's son, Enrique Zileri, returned from Europe (from where he had been making contributions for the magazine) to join ''Caretas''. Not long after, Igartua departed from the magazine and Zileri joined Gibson as co-director. Alfonso Barrantes Lingán (San Miguel de Pallaques, November 27, 1927 – Havana, December 2, 2000) was a Peruvian politician in the mid-1980s who served as Mayor of Lima from 1984 to 1986.
