The Embassy of Armenia in Cairo is the diplomatic mission of the Armenia to the Arab Republic of Egypt. The chancery is located at 20 Mohamed Mazhar street, Zamalek, Cairo. The embassy also covers the countries of Sudan, Libya, and South Africa as part of its mandate. The first ambassador of Armenia to Egypt was Dr. Eduard Nalbandyan (1992–1999) who was followed by Dr. Sergey Manassarian (1999–2004) and then by Dr. Rouben Karapetian (2004–2009). From July 22, 2009 to November 2018 Dr. Armen Melkonian was Armenia's 4th ambassador to Egypt. Since November 20, 2018 Mr Karen Grigorian is Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Armenia to Egypt. Zamalek
Zamalek ( ar, الزمالك , ''al zamalek'') is an affluent district of western Cairo encompassing the northern portion of Gezira Island in the Nile River. The island is connected with the river banks through three bridges each on the east and west sides of the island, including the Qasr El Nil Bridge and 6th October Bridge. It has witnessed many phases of growth affected by many economic and political currents which has led to a crowding of parts of the island including great reductions in the Zamalek district's open green areas, but with a large greenbelt across the island's middle defining the two districts. Eduard Nalbandyan
Eduard Aghvani Nalbandian ( hy, Էդվարդ Աղվանի Նալբանդյան; born July 16, 1956) is an Armenian diplomat who served as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia from April 2008 to May 2018. Biography Edward Nalbandian was born in 1956 in Yerevan, Armenian SSR. At the age of 22 he graduated from Moscow State Institute of International Relations. In 1988 he received his Ph.D. in Political Science from the Institute of Oriental Studies of the USSR National Academy of Sciences. Nalbandian speaks Armenian, French, English, Russian and Arabic. He is married and has a daughter. Diplomatic career Nalbandian started his diplomatic career in 1978. After obtaining his doctorate degree in political science, Nalbandian was sent first to Lebanon as a diplomat and then, in 1986, appointed First Secretary of the USSR Embassy in Egypt. Armenia–Egypt Relations
Foreign relations exist between Armenia and Egypt. Egypt was one of the first countries in the Arab world which recognized the independent Armenia in 1991.
