The Embassy of Armenia in Washington, D.C. is the diplomatic mission of Armenia to the United States, located near Embassy Row in Washington, D.C. The embassy is located at 2225 R Street, Northwest, Washington, D.C., NW in the Kalorama, Washington, D.C., Sheridan-Kalorama neighborhood. After declaring Declaration of State Sovereignty of Armenia, independence in 1991, Armenia established Armenia-United States relations, diplomatic relations with the United States and opened its embassy in February 1993 with the arrival of Ambassador Rouben Shugarian. The current ambassador, Lilit Makunts, was appointed in August 2021. Mediterranean Revival Architecture
Mediterranean Revival is an architectural style introduced in the United States, Canada, and certain other countries in the 19th century. It incorporated references from Spanish Renaissance, Spanish Colonial, Italian Renaissance, French Colonial, Beaux-Arts, Moorish architecture, and Venetian Gothic architecture. Peaking in popularity during the 1920s and 1930s, the movement drew heavily on the style of palaces and seaside villas and applied them to the rapidly expanding coastal resorts of Florida and California. Structures are typically based on a rectangular floor plan, and feature massive, symmetrical primary façades. Stuccoed walls, red tiled roofs, windows in the shape of arches or circles, one or two stories, wood or wrought iron balconies with window grilles, and articulated door surrounds are characteristic. The Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) ( hy, Ամերիկայի Հայ դատի յանձնախումբ) an Armenian American grassroots organization. Its headquarters is in Washington, D.C., and it has regional offices in Glendale, California, and Watertown, Massachusetts. History The ANCA was founded as ACIA in 1918 and was then founded as the ANCA in 1941.
