The Embassy of Finland in Stockholm is Finland's diplomatic mission in Sweden. It is located at Gärdesgatan 11 in the district of Gärdet. The current ambassador of Finland to Sweden, since 2018, is Liisa Talonpoika who is also the first female ever to hold this position. Jorma Vanamo
Jorma Jaakko Vanamo (30 October 1913 Mouhijärvi–13 December 2006 Helsinki) was a Finnish diplomat. He served as Finland's ambassador to Warsaw (1958–1963), Moscow (1963–1967), Rome, Valletta and Nicosia (1970–1975) and Stockholm (1975–1980). He also served as Ambassador to Bucharest (1958–1960), Sofia (1958–1963), Kabul (1963–1966) and Ulan Bator (1963–1966). Childhood and youth Jorma Vanamo was born as a child of pharmacists. Finland–Sweden Relations
Finland and Sweden share a long history, similar legal systems, and an Nordic model, economic and social model. Finland was part of Sweden for almost 700 years from around 1150 until the Finnish War of 1809 after which Finland became an autonomous part of the Russian Empire as the Grand Duchy of Finland. Foreign Relations Of Finland
The foreign relations of Finland are the responsibility of the president of Finland, who leads foreign policy in cooperation with the government. Implicitly the government is responsible for internal policy and decision making in the European Union. Within the government, preparative discussions are conducted in the government committee of foreign and security policy (''ulko- ja turvallisuuspoliittinen ministerivaliokunta''), which includes the Prime Minister and at least the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of Defence, and at most four other ministers as necessary. Jarmo Viinanen (born 23 February 1959, Imatra) was a Finnish ambassador to Sweden until 2016, and was President of the UNICEF Executive Board in 2013. In addition to this, Viinanen was, from 1997 until 1998, the First Secretary in the Foreign Ministry's Department of External Trade Relations. From 1998 to 2000, Viinanen was the Adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Between 2000 and 2005, Viinanen served as the diplomatic adviser to Tarja Halonen, the 11th President of Finland, the Deputy Secretary General and Deputy Chief of Cabinet, as well as the Secretary-General and Chief of Cabinet to Halonen from 2005–2009. Harry Gustaf Helenius (22 June 1946, Oulu — 14 March 2019, Helsinki) was a Finnish diplomat. Helenius studied at Svenska normallyceum i Helsingfors and then graduated as a Bachelor of Philosophy from the University of Helsinki. Markus Ludvig Lyra (born 3 August 1945 Helsinki) is a Finnish retired diplomat. He served as Ambassador of Finland to Sweden in 2010–2011. He has been employed by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs since 1973. In 2005–2010, Lyra served as the Under-Secretary of State for Political Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Prior to joining the Political Department, Lyra served as its department head for the years 2000–2004. From 1996 to 2000 he served as Ambassador in Moscow. Alec Mikael Aalto (24 September 1942 – 24 December 2018) was a Finnish diplomat. In the Foreign Ministry, he started in 1979 and served as Finland's Ambassador in Austria (1991–1995), Italy (2003–2006) and Sweden in 2006–2010 until his retirement. Pertti Torstila
Pertti Juhani Torstila (born 13 February 1946 in Jyväskylän maalaiskunta) has had a long career in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland made by an official and a diplomat. Prior to his retirement, he served as State Secretary for Foreign Affairs in 2006-2014. In June 2014, Torstila was elected Chairman of the Finnish Red Cross. Heikki Talvitie (born 5 September 1939) is a Finnish diplomat. He has served as Ambassador in Belgrade from 1984 to 1988, in Moscow from 1988 to 1992 and from Stockholm in 1996–2002.
