Eloise Webb (rugby Union)
Eloise Webb (born 5 March 1996) is a South African rugby player. She has represented South Africa internationally in rugby sevens and fifteens. Background Webb participated in cricket and javelin at the junior national levels. She also played in the Varsity Sports netball competition. She studied at Nelson Mandela University for a Bachelor of Education degree in Intermediate Phase Teaching. Rugby career 2018–19 In 2018, Webb competed for South Africa in the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Queensland. She later featured for South Africa at the Rugby World Cup Sevens in San Francisco. She scored a hat-trick in her international test debut for the Springbok Women against Uganda in the 2019 Rugby Africa Women's Cup. 2022 Webb was named in South Africa's sevens squad for the 2022 sevens season and featured in the France Women's Sevens. Border Bulldogs
The Border Bulldogs is a South African professional rugby union team that participates in the annual Currie Cup and Vodacom Cup competitions. They are governed by the Border Rugby Union (BRU) and are based in East London. History The Border Rugby Football Union governs rugby in the eastern third of the Eastern Cape province, including two former African homelands, Transkei and Ciskei. The team is based in East London and play at the Buffalo City Stadium. They form part of the Southern Kings Super Rugby franchise. Border were one of the founding members of the Currie Cup, having been established in 1891, but have only won the prestigious competition twice, in 1932 and 1934. 2022 Africa Women's Sevens
The 2022 Africa Women's Sevens are an annual African rugby sevens tournament that took place at the Stade Municipal de Jemmal in Jemmal on 29 and 30 April 2022; they were held in Tunisia for the fourth time. Nine teams participated in the tournament, including 2019 champions South Africa (who successfully defended their title and qualified for the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham). Since South Africa already qualify for the 2022 Rugby World Cup Sevens as hosts, Madagascar secured the World Cup ticket to Cape Town by finishing as runners-up. The 2021 Rugby World Cup was the ninth staging of the women's Rugby World Cup, as organised by World Rugby. It was held from 8 October to 12 November 2022 in Auckland and Whangārei, New Zealand. It was originally scheduled to be held in 2021, but was postponed by one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was the first women's Rugby World Cup to be hosted by New Zealand, and by a country in the Southern Hemisphere. New Zealand were also the defending champions. The 2022 Rugby World Cup Sevens was the eighth edition of the Rugby World Cup Sevens organised by World Rugby. The 2022 tournament, comprising 24 men's and 16 women's teams as previously, was played over three days in one venue in September. The 2022 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XXII Commonwealth Games and commonly known as Birmingham 2022, was an international multi-sport event for members of the Commonwealth of Nations that took place in Birmingham, England between 28 July and 8 August 2022. The 2022 France Women's Sevens was the final rugby sevens event on the 2021–22 Women's Sevens Series. An annual Series event since 2016, it was the first event to be played since 2019 due to the impacts of COVID-19.
