Elmo Saves Christmas
''Elmo Saves Christmas'' is a Sesame Street musical fantasy comedy television special released on PBS on December 2, 1996. It was released to VHS that same year. Inspired by the 1892 short story "Christmas Every Day" by William Dean Howells, Elmo wishes for Christmas to occur every day, only to be taken to the future to learn the adverse consequences of his wish. The program was filmed in ''Sesame Street's'' usual home, the Kaufman Astoria Studios in New York City. Footage from the film ''It's a Wonderful Life'' also appears in the program and after the credits. Plot The story is told in flashback by Maya Angelou, who recalls the events to Telly, Zoe, Baby Bear and several children. Elmo stays up on Christmas Eve to meet Santa Claus. He falls asleep, but is awakened by Santa stuck in the chimney. Elmo helps pull out Santa, who gives Elmo the choice of a teddy bear or a magical snow globe. Caroll Spinney
Caroll Edwin Spinney (December 26, 1933 – December 8, 2019) was an American puppeteer, cartoonist, author, artist and speaker, most famous for playing Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch on ''Sesame Street'' from its inception in 1969 until 2018. Early life Spinney was born in Waltham, Massachusetts, on December 26, 1933, to Chester and Margaret Spinney. He had two older brothers Bruce and Glenn. His mother, a native of Bolton, England, named him Caroll despite him being male because he was born the day after Christmas. He drew and painted from childhood, and developed a love of puppeteering when he saw a performance of " Three Little Kittens" at the age of five. Sesame Workshop (SW), originally known as the Children's Television Workshop (CTW), is an American nonprofit organization that has been responsible for the production of several educational children's programs—including its first and best-known, ''Sesame Street''—that have been televised internationally. Matt Vogel (puppeteer)
Matthew James Vogel (born October 6, 1970) is an American puppeteer, actor and director. Vogel has worked for Sesame Workshop and The Muppets Studio. He has performed for the Muppets, ''Sesame Street'', and '' Oobi''. He has been the performer of Kermit the Frog since 2017 and the full-time performer of Big Bird since 2018. Career Vogel first auditioned for the Jim Henson Company in 1993 and joined the crew of ''Sesame Street'' in 1996 as an ensemble puppeteer. Alice Dinnean
Alice Catherine Dinnean (born May 23, 1969) is an American puppeteer, voice actress and creative writer who works at The Jim Henson Company. Dinnean has performed on many children's television shows such as '' The Puzzle Place'', ''Sesame Street'', ''Bear in the Big Blue House'', '' Cousin Skeeter'', '' Jim Henson's Pajanimals'', ''Sid the Science Kid'' and '' Jack's Big Music Show''. John Tartaglia
John Nicholas Tartaglia (; born February 16, 1978) is an American actor, singer, and puppeteer. Early life Tartaglia was born in Maple Shade Township, New Jersey, and graduated from Upper Dublin High School in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, in 1996. Tartaglia joined ''Sesame Street''s puppetry team in a part-time capacity at the age of 16, making him one of the youngest ''Sesame Street'' puppeteers in the show's history. Jim Martin is an American puppeteer, best known for his roles on ''Sesame Street''. As part of the cast, he has won an Emmy Award. He has been nominated multiple times, and won for "Outstanding Achievement in Costume Design/Styling" at the Emmys, also for ''Sesame Street''. Career In the 1970s, Martin puppeteered a character in another local show, ''Adventure Time''. Peter Linz
Peter Linz (born June 28, 1967) is an American puppeteer. His most prominent role is being the performer for the character Walter who was introduced in the 2011 feature film ''The Muppets''. Since 1991, Linz has performed on ''Sesame Street'', where he later took on the roles of Herry Monster and Ernie on ''Sesame Street'' in 2017.
