Elmer Labog
Elmer "Ka Bong" Calagui Labog (born August 3, 1955) is a trade union and labor activist from the Philippines who is the national chairperson of the militant group Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU), the largest trade union in the country. He is also the vice-chairperson of Bagong Alyansang Makabayan and the chairperson of International League of Peoples' Struggle in the Philippines. During the 2022 Philippine general election, he ran Independent under Makabayan for Senator. Early life Labog was born on August 3, 1955 in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya. He finished BS Biology in the University of the Philippines Diliman after transfering from BS Forestry from UP Los Baños. Leodegario "Ka Leody" Quitain de Guzman (; born July 25, 1959) is a Filipino socialist labor rights activist who ran for president in the 2022 Philippine presidential elections, under the Partido Lakas ng Masa. Anakpawis is a party-list in the Philippines. The party-list is the electoral wing of the radical trade union movement Kilusang Mayo Uno and the peasant group Kilusang Mangbubukid ng Pilipinas. Known for its radical pro-labor and peasant stand, Anakpawis is known for its campaign for a ₱125 across-the-board wage increase for workers, as well as the genuine agrarian reform bill to redistribute land to landless peasants. The 2021 Calabarzon raids, also referred to as Bloody Sunday and COPLAN ASVAL, were a series of operations conducted by the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine Army in Calabarzon, Philippines, on March 7, 2021, that resulted in the killing of nine activists and the arrest of six individuals.
