Ellen Keane
Ellen Keane (born 6 April 1995) is an Irish Paralympic swimmer and gold medallist competing in S9, SM9 and SB8 classification events. Career Keane won three bronze medals at world championships before winning a bronze medal in the 100 m breaststroke (SB8) at the 2016 Summer Paralympics, and gold at the same event at the 2020 Summer Paralympics. Personal life Keane was born with an undeveloped left arm and competes as an amputee. She is a student at Dublin Institute of Technology. In June 2017 she was honoured by the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Brendan Carr, with a Lord Mayor's Award, which is awarded 'to citizens who, through their ordinary everyday lives, enrich this city in an extraordinary way'. Clontarf, Dublin
Clontarf () is a largely affluent coastal suburb on the Northside of Dublin in the city's Dublin 3 postal district. Historically there were two centres of population, one on the coast towards the city, and the fishing village of Clontarf Sheds, further north on the coast at what is now Vernon Avenue. Clontarf has a range of commercial facilities in several locations, mainly centred on Vernon Avenue. It adjoins Fairview, Marino, Killester and Raheny. Clontarf is in the jurisdiction of Dublin City Council. Clontarf was a core site of the Battle of Clontarf in 1014, in which Brian Boru, High King of Ireland, defeated the Vikings of Dublin and their allies, the Irish of Leinster. Pasquale La Rocca (; born 24 June 1989) is an Italian dancer and choreographer. Best known as former Italian Ballroom and Latin Champion, La Rocca joined the second series of the Belgian version of ''Dancing with the Stars''. Early life La Rocca was born in Naples, Italy. Nina Carberry (born 19 July 1984) is a retired Irish female National Hunt jockey. She hails from a racing family and is the daughter of jockey Tommy Carberry. Career Carberry got her first Cheltenham Festival win in 2005 on Dabiroun in the Fred Winter Juvenile Novices' Handicap Hurdle. It was the first time in 18 years that a female jockey won a race at the Cheltenham Festival. ''Dancing with the Stars'' returned for a fifth series on 9 January 2022 on RTÉ One. This was the first series in two years after the show was put on a year-long hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic. Brendan Carr is an Irish Labour Party politician and former member of Dublin City Council. He served as the Lord Mayor of Dublin from 2016 to 2017. He was first elected to Dublin City Council at the 1999 local elections as a member for the Cabra-Glasnevin local electoral area. He was re-elected in 2004 but did not contest the 2009 local elections because his son Jason was born that year. Amputee
Amputation is the removal of a limb by trauma, medical illness, or surgery. As a surgical measure, it is used to control pain or a disease process in the affected limb, such as malignancy or gangrene.
