Elizio, aka Mister ODC (Original Di Cabo Verde) is a singer-songwriter born in Angola in 1979, of Cape Verdean origin. Revealed with the title ''10 fois, 100 fois'' featuring Perle Lama in 2003, Elizio quickly meets his first big solo success with ''Melodia'' which leads him to the top of the zouk scene. Kaysha
Kaysha (born 1974) is a singer/rapper and producer from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He is the son of Congolese politician Édouard Mokolo Wa Mpombo. Career He was born in Kinshasa but emigrated to France with his parents at the age of seven. Kaysha's first single, which used a sample from French West Indian band Kassav's ''Oulé'', was called "Bounce Baby". Kaysha's second single was "Telephone", from his album ''I'm Ready''. Mickael (Mika) Mendes (born 2 July 1982) is a Cape Verdean-French kizomba/zouk singer. He was born in Nice, France. His father is Boy Gê Mendes former lead singer of the famous Capeverdean group Cabo Verde Show and later part of the band Mendes e Mendes. Career Mika first entered the music world in 2001 when he participated in the Cape Verdean music compilation ''Aliança''. From 2002 to 2004 he participated in several albums, working with such famous recording artists as Philip Monteiro (album ''Philip Monteiro and friends'' (2004), track "Falta d'atencao" featuring AN2 & Mickael. Luanda () is the capital and largest city in Angola. It is Angola's primary port, and its major industrial, cultural and urban centre. Kizomba is a dance and musical genre that originated in Angola in 1984. Kizomba means "party" in Kimbundu, a Bantu language spoken by the Ambundu in Angola. Origin and evolution Music genre The origins of kizomba can be traced to late-1970s Africa, with influences variably attributed to Angola. Kizomba is characterized by a slower, romantic, more sensuous rhythm than the traditional Angolan semba music. Kuduro
Kuduro (or kuduru) is a type of music and dance from Angola. It is characterized as uptempo, energetic, and danceable. Kuduro was developed in Luanda, Angola in the late 1980s. Producers sampled traditional carnival music like soca and zouk béton ("hard" zouk) from the Caribbean to Angola, techno and accordion playing from Europe and laid this around a fast 4/4 beat. The kuduro is similar to the kizomba rhythm. Origins The roots of kuduro can be traced to the late 1980s when producers in Luanda, Angola started mixing African percussion samples with zouk béton ("hard" zouk) and soca to create a style of music then known as Batida ("Beat"). Nelson Freitas (born April 4, 1975) is a Cape Verdean-Netherlands, Dutch singer, producer and recorder. He records with GhettoZouk Music, which also signed artists Chelsy Shantel and William Araujo. Biography Freitas was born in the Netherlands to Cape Verdean parents. His music features Cape Verdean Zouk (musical movement), zouk (a style combined with kizomba) and R&B.
