Fred Elizalde
Federico "Fred" Díaz Elizalde (December 12, 1907 – January 16, 1979) was a Spanish Filipino classical and jazz pianist, composer, conductor, and bandleader, influential in the British dance band era. Biography Elizalde was born in Manila, Philippines, to José Joaquín Elizalde and Carmen Díaz y Moreau. He was a brother of diplomat Joaquín ("Mike"), Manuel ("Manolo"), Juan Miguel, Ángel and Carmenchu Elizalde. Joaquín Miguel Elizalde y Díaz (August 2, 1896 – February 9, 1965) was a Filipino diplomat and businessman. Personal life Elizalde was born on August 2, 1896 in Manila, the eldest child of José Joaquín Elizalde (who was the Philippine-born son of Joaquín Marcelino Elizalde y Yrisarry, an immigrant from Elizondo in Navarre, Spain) and Carmen Díaz y Moreau (who was from Spain). Emilio Elizalde (born 8 March 1950) is a Spanish physicist working in the fields of gravitational physics and general relativity. Of Basque heritage, he was born in Balaguer, about 25 km northeast of Lleida, the province capital. He finished double undergraduate majors in Physics and Mathematics at the University of Barcelona in 1972 and 1973, followed by a masters and later a Ph.D. (1976) degree at the same institution. He served in the Cortes in two separate strings: during the Second Republic in 1936 and during Francoism in 1954-1958.
