Elfriede Czurda
Elfriede Czurda (born 25 April 1946) is an Austrian poet, writer and translator. Life Czurda was born in Wels in 1946. She studied archaeology and Art History at the University of Saltzburg. She completed her education at the University Paris in 1973 with a doctorate and began writing the following year. By 1976 she was a full-time freelance writer. Her first book ''ein griff'' was published in 1978. She lived in Berlin and Vienna. The first two novels of her trilogy which she began in 1991 have attracted academic interest as they together with work by fellow Austrian Lilian Faschinger are said to show an interest in violence created by women. Her opening novel of the trilogy, ''Die Giftmörderinnen'', is told in stylisised speech by the central figure who is in jail having poisoned her husband assisted by her lover and neighbour, Erika. Wels (; Central Bavarian: ''Wös'') is a city in Upper Austria, on the Traun River near Linz. Lilian Faschinger
Lilian Faschinger (born 29 April 1950 in Tschöran, Carinthia) is an Austrian novelist, short story writer, poet, and literary translator. Life Faschinger studied literature, history, and English at the University of Graz, earning a doctorate in English literature. Faschinger's first novel ''Die neue Scheherazade'' (''The New Scheherazade'') attracted considerable critical recognition when it appeared in 1986. Her second novel, ''Lustspiel'', appeared in 1989, followed by two collections of short stories (''Frau mit drei Flugzeugen'' (''Woman with Three Airplanes'') in 1993 and ''Sprünge'' in 1994). Her most recent novels are ''Magdalena Sünderin'' (''Magdalena the Sinner'', 1995) and ''Wiener Passion'' (''Viennese Passion'', 1999). Wiener Gruppe
The Wiener Gruppe (''Vienna Group'') was a small and loose avant-garde constellation of Austrian poets and writers, which arose from an older and wider postwar association of artists called Art-Club. The group was formed around 1953 under the influence of H. C. Artmann (1921–2000) in Vienna and existed for about a decade. Besides Artmann are Friedrich Achleitner (1930–2019), Konrad Bayer (1932–1964), Gerhard Rühm (b. 1930), Ingrid Wiener and Oswald Wiener (b. 1935) regarded as members. This group showed interest in Baroque literature, as well as in Expressionism, Dadaism and Surrealism. Rosmarie Waldrop
Rosmarie Waldrop (born Rosmarie Sebald; August 24, 1935) is an American poet, novelist, translator, essayist and publisher. Born in Germany, she has lived in the United States since 1958 and has settled in Providence, Rhode Island since the late 1960s. Waldrop is a co-editor and publisher of Burning Deck Press. Early life in Germany Waldrop was born in Kitzingen am Main on August 24, 1935. Her father, Joseph Sebald, taught physical education at the town's high school. Towards the end of the Second World War, she joined a travelling theatre, but returned to school in early 1946. At school, she studied piano and flute and played in a youth orchestra. During Christmas in 1954, the orchestra gave a concert for American soldiers stationed at Kitzingen.
