Elena Miller
Elena Miller, originally known as Yelena Borisovna Olshanskaya, is a Russian who, as alleged by the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), lived in Canada as a spy, using the name of a dead child as a cover. Olshanskaya later lost the right to immigrate back to Canada to live with her second husband, Canadian Peter Miller. Career In the early 1990s, Yelena Olshanskaya came to live in Canada under the alias Laurie Catherine Mary Lambert (nee Brodie). Her husband Dmitriy used the alias Ian Mackenzie Lambert. On 27 May 1996, CBC television correspondent Neil MacDonald reported the arrest of Ian and Laurie Lambert, a married couple living in a Toronto apartment, as Russian spies. Canadian Security Intelligence Service
The Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS, ; french: Service canadien du renseignement de sécurité, ''SCRS'') is Canada's primary national intelligence agency. It is responsible for collecting, analysing, reporting and disseminating intelligence on threats to Canada's national security, and conducting operations, covert and overt, within Canada and abroad. The agency also reports to and advises the minister of public safety on national security issues and situations that threaten the security of the nation. Anna Chapman
Anna Vasilyevna Chapman (russian: А́нна Васи́льевна Ча́пман; born Anna Vasilyevna Kushchenko on 23 February 1982) is a Russian intelligence agent, media personality and model who was arrested in the United States on 27 June 2010 as part of the Illegals Program spy ring. At the time of her arrest, she was accused of espionage on behalf of the Russian Federation's external intelligence agency, the ''Sluzhba vneshney razvedki'' (SVR). She had previously gained British citizenship through marriage, which she used to gain residency in the U.S. Chapman pleaded guilty to a charge of conspiracy to act as an agent of a foreign government. She and the other Russians were deported to Russia on 8 July 2010, as part of the 2010 Russia–U.S. prisoner swap. The Illegals Program (so named by the United States Department of Justice) was a network of Russian sleeper agents under non-official cover, unofficial cover. An investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) culminated in the arrest of ten agents on June 27, 2010, and a prisoner exchange between Russia and the United States on July 9, 2010. The arrested spies were Russian nationals who had been planted in the U.S. by the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (Russia), Foreign Intelligence Service (known by its Russian language, Russian abbreviation, ''SVR''), most of them using false identity. A sleeper agent, also called sleeper cell, is a spy who is placed in a target country or organization not to undertake an immediate mission but to act as a potential asset if activated. Even if unactivated, the "sleeper agent" is still an asset and can still play an active role in sedition, espionage or possibly treason by virtue of agreeing to act if activated. Sleeper agents may also work in groups of a Clandestine cell system with other agents. Jack Philip Barsky (born Albrecht Dittrich, 18 May 1949) is a German-American author, IT specialist and former sleeper agent of the KGB who spied on the United States from 1978 to 1988.
