Elena Highton De Nolasco
Elena Inés Highton de Nolasco (born 7 December 1942) is an Argentine lawyer, judge and a former member of Supreme Court of Justice of Argentina, having served from 2004 to 2021. Mrs. Nolasco was born in Lomas de Zamora in Buenos Aires Province. She qualified as a lawyer, procurator and notary in 1966 at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA). Her postgraduate studies were at UBA, Harvard Law School and the University of Nevada. From 1967 she practised as a lawyer and in 1973 she became an official defence lawyer for incapable defendants. The Supreme Court of Argentina ( es, link=no, Corte Suprema de Argentina), officially known as the Supreme Court of Justice of the Argentine Nation ( es, link=no, Corte Suprema de Justicia de la Nación Argentina, CSJN), is the Supreme court, highest court of law of the Argentina, Argentine Republic. Carmen Argibay
Carmen María Argibay (15 June 1939 – 10 May 2014) was a member of the Supreme Court of Argentina. She was the first woman to be nominated for the Court by a democratic government in Argentina, and caused some controversy upon declaring herself an atheist and a supporter of legal abortion. Early life Born in Buenos Aires, Argibay studied at the Law Faculty of the University of Buenos Aires, becoming a lawyer on 11 June 1964. She worked in a number of public judicial offices and taught in several universities, until 1976. On 24 March of that year, a coup d'état started the dictatorship of the National Reorganization Process. The military junta had her arrested, without formal charges, and held her in prison until December. After being released she devoted herself to private law practice.
