Judas Priest
Judas Priest are an English heavy metal band formed in Birmingham in 1969. They have sold over 50 million albums and are frequently ranked as one of the greatest metal bands of all time. Despite an innovative and pioneering body of work in the latter half of the 1970s, the band had struggled with indifferent record production and a lack of major commercial success until 1980, when they rose to commercial success with the album '' British Steel''. The band's membership has seen much turnover, including a revolving cast of drummers in the 1970s and the departure of singer Rob Halford in 1992. Tim "Ripper" Owens, formerly of Winter's Bane, replaced Halford in 1996 and recorded two albums with Judas Priest, before Halford returned to the band in 2003. The current line-up consists of Halford, guitarists Glenn Tipton and Richie Faulkner, bassist Ian Hill and drummer Scott Travis. The band's best-selling album is 1982's ''Screaming for Vengeance'', with their most commercially succe ...

Rocka Rolla (song)
''Rocka Rolla'' is the debut studio album by English heavy metal band Judas Priest, released on 6 September 1974 by Gull Records. It was produced by Rodger Bain, who had made a name for himself as the producer of Black Sabbath's first three albums. It is the only album to feature drummer John Hinch. Background According to the band, the entire album was played live in the studio rather than having individual musicians record alone. According to the band there were technical problems in the studio, resulting in poor sound quality and a hiss through the album. Guitarist Glenn Tipton had just joined when recording of ''Rocka Rolla'' began; his only songwriting contributions accepted by producer Rodger Bain were on the title track and "Run of the Mill". He did come up with the songs "Tyrant", "Epitaph", and "Ripper", but Bain considered them not commercial enough and rejected them. Bain also rejected the concert staple "Whiskey Woman" which later, with contributions from Tipt ...

The Green Manalishi (With The Two Prong Crown)
"The Green Manalishi (With the Two Prong Crown)" is a song written by Peter Green and recorded by Fleetwood Mac. It was released as a single in the UK in May 1970 and reached No. 10 on the British charts, a position it occupied for four consecutive weeks, and was the band's last UK top 10 hit until "Tusk" reached No. 6 in 1979. "The Green Manalishi" was the last song Green made with Fleetwood Mac before leaving the band. Composition The song was written during Green's final months with the band, at a time when he was struggling with LSD and had withdrawn from other members of the band. While there are several theories about the meaning of the title "Green Manalishi", Green always maintained that the song is about money, as represented by the devil. Green was reportedly angered by the other band members' refusal to share their financial gains. Green has explained that he wrote the song after experiencing a drug-induced dream in which he was visited by a green dog which barked a ...

Turbo Lover
"Turbo Lover" is a single by heavy metal band Judas Priest from their album ''Turbo''. Unlike the album, most of the reception for this song has been positive, and it is considered a Judas Priest classic. Lyrics The song's lyrics have been described as being about "auto"-eroticism. Singer Rob Halford said, "I just liked the analogy of the motorcycle as a euphemism for love. And 'I'm your turbo lover, Tell me there's no other.' It's got kind of a sexual undertone to it – which is fine. It's been done many times in rock n' roll: to use a machine, car, or motorcycle. It's just a fun bit of escapism more than anything else." Reception AllMusic writer, Steve Huey, in his review of the song's parent album ''Turbo'', called it "easily the best song on the record". ''Decibel Magazine'' described the song as "one of the classiest songs in udas Priest's discography. Electric Eye (song)
"Electric Eye" is the second song on English heavy metal band Judas Priest’s 1982 album ''Screaming for Vengeance''. It has become a staple at concerts, usually played as the first song. AllMusic critic Steve Huey called the song a classic. Benediction and Helloween, amongst many other bands, have covered this song. Background Musically, the song is in the key of E minor, and its guitar solo is played by Glenn Tipton. "Electric Eye" is an allusion to the book ''Nineteen Eighty-Four'' by George Orwell, in the use of the name of the pseudo-omniscient camera that watches over the community at all times. In this dystopia, the form of government, Ingsoc (Newspeak for English Socialism), is utterly totalitarian, and if citizens are caught rebelling in any manner, they "disappear". In the song by Judas Priest, however, the cameras are updated to take the form of a powerful satellite, that is "elected," to take "pictures that can prove," and "keep the country clean". Thus, the ...
