"Electric" is a song recorded by Swedish artist Leila K. It is produced by Denniz Pop & Max Martin, and released as a single in late 1995. In 1996, it was included on her third album, '' Manic Panic''. The chorus is sung by Swedish singer Jessica Folcker. The single peaked at number 2 in Finland, number 8 in Sweden and number 37 in Belgium. On the Eurochart Hot 100, it reached number 86. Outside Europe, it was a Top 20 hit in Israel, peaking at number 18. Composition The song's chorus has the same melody as Shannon's 1984 dance hit "Give Me Tonight". Chris Barbosa and Ed Chisolm share songwriting credits for the song. In the 2020 book, ''Move Your Body (2 The 90s): Unlimited Eurodance'', writer Juha Soininen noted, "It also breaks the pattern of male raps: Leila raps and Jessica Folcker has the refrain. Laila El Khalifi ( ar, ليلى الخليفي; born 6 September 1971) better known by her stage name Leila K, is a Swedish Eurodance singer and rapper of Moroccan descent. Early life El Khalifi's parents decided to send her to a school in Morocco, but she did not fit into the system so after one year she returned to Sweden. Musical career Leila was discovered by the musical duo Rob'n'Raz when singing in a music contest. They liked her music and offered her a recording contract in 1988. Together with Rob'n'Raz she had her first hit in 1989 with the song " Got to Get" (first recorded within the UK as a pre-production demo by Pete Towns of P&P Productions) and released an album in 1990, '' Rob'n'Raz featuring Leila K''. During the first years of her career she had many chart-topping hits and her music was played all over Europe. "Give Me Tonight" is a 1984 single by Shannon, an American R&B and dance artist. Released as the follow-up to her smash debut " Let the Music Play," "Give Me Tonight" was not as successful as its predecessor on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, where it peaked at #46. It did, however, receive the same enthusiastic response in the dance clubs as her previous single, hitting the top spot on the Hot Dance Club Play chart in March 1984 for two weeks. It also was a significant Urban hit, reaching #6 on the American R&B chart. The song also peaked at #24 on the UK singles chart. The vocal on the chorus is by session guitarist/vocalist Jimi Tunnell, who was uncredited. In 2000 Hex Hector remixed the song and the mixes were called the "Give Me Tonight (2000 A.D. Mixes)". The Dutch Single Top 100 or Single Top 100 is a Dutch chart, based on official physical single sales, legal downloads and since July 2013 streaming and composed by Dutch Charts. It is one of the three official charts, the other two being the Dutch Top 40 and the Mega Top 30. The difference is that these charts also include airplay data. The list is especially intended for the music industry and those who take an interest in charts. The Dutch Top 40 ( nl, Nederlandse Top 40) is a weekly music chart compiled by ''Stichting Nederlandse Top 40''. It started as a radio program titled "Veronica Top 40", on the offshore station Radio Veronica in 1965. It remained "The Veronica Top 40" until 1974, when the station was forced to stop broadcasting. Joost den Draaijer initiated the Top 40 in the Netherlands. The show currently airs on Fridays from 2 to 6 PM on Qmusic. Ultratop is an organization which generates and publishes the official record charts in Belgium. Ultratop is a non-profit organization, created on the initiative of the Belgian Entertainment Association (BEA), the Belgian member organization of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry. Two parallel sets of charts are concurrently produced and published, one on behalf of Belgium's mainly Dutch-speaking Flanders region, and the other catering to the nation's mainly French-speaking region of Wallonia. Swedish Dance Music Awards (also known as Gilbey's Swedish Dance Music Awards and ZTV Dance Music Awards) was a Swedish dance music award that started in 1990 by John Wallin (Pitch Control) and Jonas Siljemark (Siljemark Production). At that time Swedish dance artists had no national media exposure compared to the massive coverage they were receiving internationally. Wallin and Siljemark felt that the home market of such successful artists didn't give the respect the artists deserved. That is how they came up with the idea of the Swedish Dance Music Awards.
