Electribal Memories
''Electribal Memories'' is the first album by house-music group Electribe 101. It was originally released in 1990 and reached number 26 in the UK Albums Chart. The album includes the singles "Tell Me When the Fever Ended" (#32 in the UK Singles Chart), "Talking with Myself" (UK #23), "You're Walking" (UK #50) and a cover of the Jesse Rae / Odyssey song "Inside Out" (UK #77). The album was re-released in 1998 with three remixes of "Talking with Myself," which had gained popularity that year and was again released as a single, reaching number 39 in the UK Singles Chart. In 2002, the album was reissued again under the title ''The Best of Electribe 101 Featuring Billie Ray Martin''. The album has never been released in the United States, and the first pressing was only available as an import, despite the release of the album's singles there. Jesse Rae
Jesse Rae (born 1951) is a Scottish singer and composer from St Boswells in Scotland. Career In the 1970s Rae moved to the US securing work as a runner in the New York Stock Exchange to fund his stay. Through work in Cleveland and Los Angeles studios, he became acquainted with several leading soul and funk artists, including Roger Troutman, Bernie Worrell, Nairobi Sailcat and Michael Hampton from the Parliament/Funkadelic enclave. Returning to the UK, he was unable to secure a recording contract despite offering several demos and his debut single "D.E.S.I.R.E." was latterly released via the Miami based TK Organisation. In 1981, he worked with Worrell as part of the P-Funk offshoot band, Space Cadets, whose sole album was released in the US in that year. Larry Heard
Larry Heard (born May 31, 1960) is an American DJ, record producer, and musician who has recorded under various names, most notably Mr. Fingers. He is widely known as a pioneering figure in 1980s house music, and was leader of the influential group Fingers Inc., whose 1988 album '' Another Side'' was the first long-form house LP. He is regarded as a progenitor of the deep house subgenre, bridging the gap between the futurism of house and the lush sound of disco. His landmark 1986 single " Can You Feel It" would be a major influence on dance music. Frankie Knuckles
Francis Warren Nicholls, Jr. (January 18, 1955 – March 31, 2014), better known as Frankie Knuckles, was an American DJ, record producer and remixer. He played an important role in developing and popularizing house music in Chicago during the 1980s, when the genre was in its infancy. Odyssey is originally a New York City, United States-based singing group, best known for its 1977 hit " Native New Yorker", and a series of other mainly dance and soul hits in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The Official Albums Chart is a list of albums ranked by physical and digital sales and (from March 2015) audio streaming in the United Kingdom. It was published for the first time on 22 July 1956 and is compiled every week by the Official Charts Company (OCC) on Fridays (previously Sundays). It is broadcast on BBC Radio 1 (top 5) and found on the OCC website as a Top 100 or on UKChartsPlus as a Top 200, with positions continuing until all sales have been tracked in data only available to industry insiders. However, even though number 100 was classed as a hit album (as in the case of The Guinness Book of British Hit Albums) in the 1980s until January 1989, since the compilations were removed this definition was changed to Top 75 with follow-up books such as The Virgin Book of British Hit Albums book only including this data.
