Yeronga was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland from 1950 to 2001. The district was based in the southern suburbs of Brisbane and named for the suburb of Yeronga. Yeronga is a southern riverside suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Yeronga had a population of 6,535 people. Geography The suburb is bounded to the west and north by the Brisbane River and to the south-east by Ipswich Road. A total of 16 streets in the Yeronga West area begin with the letter O, including Orvieto Road, Orsova Road and Oriana Crescent, locally known as the 'O zone'. Many of these streets appear to be named after ships and passenger liners owned by the Orient Line, which became part of P&O. They include , , ''Ormuz'' and . Some names were used for two or more ships over time. For example the first was launched in 1911 and sunk by a torpedo in 1917, and the second was launched in 1924 and sunk in the Norwegian campaign in 1940. Legislative Assembly Of Queensland
The Legislative Assembly of Queensland is the sole chamber of the unicameral Parliament of Queensland established under the Constitution of Queensland. Elections are held every four years and are done by full preferential voting. The Assembly has 93 members, who have used the letters MP after their names since 2000 (previously they were styled MLAs). Henry Winston Noble (5 July 1909 – 28 March 1964) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Biography Noble was born at Brisbane, Queensland, the son of the Alexander Noble and his wife Alice Ann (née Wood). He was educated at Brisbane Grammar School and went on to the University of Queensland and the University of Sydney where he earned his MBBS. He became a resident medical officer in Sydney before heading back to Brisbane and working as a medical practitioner in Brisbane. The Liberal Party of Australia (Queensland Division), branded as Liberal Queensland, was the Queensland division of the Liberal Party of Australia until 2008. It was initially formed in October 1943 as the Queensland People's Party (QPP), which then absorbed the disbanded Queensland branch of the United Australia Party in 1944.
